On the German website under A6 4G (your model) I found this:

    https://www.kufatec.de/shop/de/tv-fr...skoda-columbus

For whatever reason it's listed at €149 when I paid €250 for the S6 version. You're going to have to roll the dice on this one, I personally think it's going to work but that's a €150 gamble YOU'RE going to have to decide to make. I believe their hesitancy in telling you it's going to work is from the fact that they actually haven't had the opportunity to test it on a MY16 version. I don't see why your MMI would be any different than mine, but that's just my 2 cents. Let me know what you decide to do.

I have a new A6 since mid Nov 2015 (so the 2016 model), and I have tried to enable the VIM without any success.

You say in another post that the security code was showed by the VCDS windows application, but probably we are using different ways to do the VIM change, as I am not receiving any pop-up help.

Would you be so kind to tell me which were the steps you followed to activate the VIM?

I did a try following this article (http://www.audienthusiasts.com/Articles_VIM.html). There are many others in the web, but all of them use the same algorithm to calculate the security code and it does not work with the new A6 models.

If you used a different method and you want to share it with me, I will appreciate it a lot.

And ... if you used the same method, could you please send me your module serial number, and the security code you used to access to the Adaptation Mode?

    Many thanks in advance.

P.S.: I am part of a very good Audi forum in Spain, and there are several people looking for the way to activate the VIM in the new Audi models. So you will also help other people as I would share the solution if it works.

Just to give you some additional info. I am using a VagCom cable version 15.7

VIM not available through VAG com at the moment until someone figures out security access, as of now, the only way to do it is with either a VIM dongle from kufatec.de or supposedly there is another cable on the market that is apparently capable of doing this

Thanks for your fast response, richib86 ...

I have also seen this other solution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyElC7VYuGQ and have been in contact with them through http://kaptrader.com/tvfree_Audi_4G_A6_2016_Year.html

The solution is less expensive than the Kufatec one, and has the possibility to enable or disable the VIM pressing a button for 10 seconds, which is really good. But the cost of the shipment to my country (Spain) from Korea is near 70% the price of the solution, and if finally I was requested to pay local taxes for it, the total amount is too much from my point of view.

I have also read that it is possible to activate the VIM using the VCP instead the VagCom, which could be another option. But it is really a pity to do not know the new vagcom security code.

I went in today to try and disable the rear side markers using the information below:

    7) Disable rear side markers in US vehicles
    [Select]
    [46-Central Convenience]
    [Security Access] enter 22790
[Adaptation - 10] --> channel 209 for left rear side marker
Document your existing number should you need to re-enable rear side markers later
    Change existing number to 0
Channel 210 for right rear side marker
Document your existing number should you need to re-enable rear side markers later
    Change existing number to 32

When I went to channel 209, I got the message that security code must be entered (which I already had).

I waited an hour and went back to try again, same result.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    Yes and I gave up.

I eventually wrapped up the bulb assembly and reattached it in the side marker compartment so it does not show any illumination. Fronts are off but backs do illuminate, you just can't see them.

Keeping an eye on this thread and waiting for someone to figure this out for S7 facelift.

I gave up too but planned on getting the color matched side/rear markers from TAG. So I am on a mission to find out how to stop the back ones from turning on.

Please let us know on this thread if you have any luck. I'm sure there are others that have discovered the same thing.
I did check with the shop foreman at my local Audi dealership to see if he was aware of any reference material such as service/ maintenance manuals that would contain VCDS coding. He was not aware of any centralized resource. This seems to be "poke around experimentation with hit and miss as the primary technique used to make changes."

dunno if you ever solved this but on my [early] 2014 A7 TDI, the VAG-COM tool allowed me to modify:
    [53 Parking Brake]
    Adaptation
Channel (1) Driver Out Apply stored value: activated

I was able to change this value to deactivated although it required security access first. Happily VAG-COM supplied the security code suggestion of "78713" which allowed me to modify this value.

And yes, the default/shipped operation (opening driver door activated the emergency brake) was a PIA.

    Cheers!

So i went outside to see my drl light mod since i changed them from 26 to 51 and i have to say it's pretty nuts..
i think i'm gonna turn them down to about 36 and see how i like it,you guys who turned them up to 100 i don't understand it.
different strokes for different folks but set at 51 it's hard to tell the drl's from the headlights at night.

The big problem with turning them us is that the DRLs are omni-directional, so they look like high beams to oncoming drivers. I was driving in font of someone from work who had the DRLs turn all the way up at night. I thought he was pissed at me and was "high beaming" me. Nope, just did the mod without thinking about implications to other drivers.

I tested it against a white wall. I was shocked at how bright the light scatter on the wall and ceiling was from the turned-up DRL. I think I turned mine up to 36. Anything higher and there was too much high beam effect. There's a reason the default setting is so low...

I tried mine at 65. Went crazy bright tbh. Turned it down to 50. Its still bright but looks good. No high beam kind if effect yet.

Anyway to turn off the amber blinkers while the headlights are on at night? I noticed mine stay on while the headlights are on.

PS, still cannot find out how to turn off the rear side markers. Still get the that security code must be entered message when going to channel 209.

I also cannot find anything anywhere on what exactly you can do from the green menu. Only thing I'm aware of is activate the ability to rip a CD to the hard drive. Anybody have a good list of features in the green menu?

Got this from the web....it was in German and had Google translated into English. I tried to change the settings in my 16' RS7 but unable to locate the channel # (VCDS does not have channel descriptions therefore can't locate the exact channels to change the settings). This may work for older models.

    Customization of the high-beam assistant

In the control device of the high-beam assistant, you have the option of the Audi A7 4G adjust the low beam and Aufblendgeschwindigkeiten. If you want that the wizard can be activated for remote lighting control, for example, earlier you can adjust / modify accordingly so as described readily.

The following code is to be applied:

    select STG 20 (High-beam assistant)
    STG adjustment -> function 10
    Select channel Aufblendgeschwindigkeit
(speed at which the beam can be displayed according to the environmental conditions)

    Value For example, on 30 Adjust - standard 57 km / h

    select STG 20 (High-beam assistant)
    STG adjustment -> function 10
    Select channel Abblendgeschwindigkeit
(speed when dimmed, the high beam and the high-beam assistant is deactivated)

    Value For example, on 10 Adjust - Standard: 27 km / h

    STG adjustment -> function 10
    Select channel Abblendgeschwindigkeit
(speed when dimmed, the high beam and the high-beam assistant is deactivated)

    Value For example, on 10 Adjust - Standard: 27 km / h
Thank you! My car is MY16 as well, but I will have a look in that area and see what I can find.

    I did this mod

    "Activation of Ambiante Lights
Select Control unit 09 (Central Electrics)
    Control unit Long Coding
    Byte 17
Bit 3 Activate - MMI settings
Bit 2 Activate - front footwell lighting
Bit 1 Activate - door lighting

    Select Control unit 5F (infotainment)
    Adaptation
Select channel (6) Menu operation vehicle-menu_display_ambient_illumination
    value to adjust activated
Select channel (8) Menu operation vehicle-menu_display_ambient_illumination_over_threshold_h igh
    value to adjust activated
Channel (15) vehicle function list BAP interieur_light_0x08 Select
    a value to adjust activated"

The problem is that the MMI background light menu is grey and cant use it.
Footwell lights are on when headlights is on but very low brightness. Any idea? My car is A6 2015 model.

I have a 2016 Audi S7 and the programming for the VIM in MMI is not coming up . I followed the instructions and cannot get the security code to work. Has anyone else with a similar vehicle year had the same problem? Do I have to unlock the secret menu first and then proceed to program the second code of:

    Enable VIM on MMI
    [5F - Information Electr.] [Advanced ID - 1A] Note 1st Serial number
    [Security Access] Enter Digits 6, 13, 10, 14, 11 of the 1st Serial number
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 48
    Set to 255
    Reset MMI

I would prefer response to someone who is 100% sure or has experience on the 2016 Audi s7 with current MMI for that model year. THanks guys.

it would behoove you to read on after the first page haha, VAG com will NOT unlock VIM until someone cracks the security code for adaptations for the 16 models, also no more green screen, thats all done through adaptation channels now. For the 2016 models the only solutions are this new VCP cable thats been popping up lately or get the VIM dongle from kufatec.com

I might have missed something, but does anyone know how to enable windows up on the fob and at the door on a A7/S7 2016? I don't recall an issue when I did it on my S6 Also, does anyone know what enabling advanced key and window regulator features in the VCDS byte do?

    1) Disable amber corner lights
    [09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 10
    Submodule 0
Bit 3 - Set to 0 to disable amber side markers (U.S. vehicles)

This worked but there is no supporting text in the Long Coding Helper. Bit 3 was checked and I simply unchecked it

    2) Disable NAV & Phone warning messages while entering data at speed
    [5F - Information Electr.] -> Adaptation -> Set channel 2 & 3 to 250

I was not able to do this. The choices in the Adaptation settings are way different than I have previously seen

    3) Enable Adaptive brake lights
    [46 - Comfort System] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8
Bit 0 – Emergency Brake Flashing via Turn Lights active (1 = active)
Bit 1 – Emergency Brake Flashing via Brake Lights active (1 = active)

The coding was accepted but I won't know if this worked until I have someone follow me (not too closely!) and then be in front of me

    4) Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
    [02 – Auto Trans] [Adaptation – 10]
Select “Single Gear Display” from top channel drop down menu
Select “D on/S on” from New value drop down menu

The coding was accepted but I didn't drive the car today so won't know if it worked for a couple of days

    5) Set Audi parking system - Switch OFF Speed
    [10 - Park/Steer Assist] [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 23
Set to 20 (max value in km/h)

I was not able to do this. Park/Steer Assist is no longer an available module

    6) Tail lights on with front DRLs
    [Select]
    [09-Cent. Elect.]
    [Coding - 07]
    [Long Coding Helper]
Click on byte 2 and enable bit 7

This worked for me but again there was no supporting text in the Long Coding Helper. I clicked bit 7 in byte 2. This also turned on the rear marker lights so I had to disable them as shown below.

    7) Disable rear side markers in US vehicles
    [Select]
    [46-Central Convenience]
    [Security Access] enter 16017
[Adaptation - 10] --> channel 209 for left rear side marker
Document your existing number should you need to re-enable rear side markers later
    Change existing number to 0
Channel 210 for right rear side marker
Document your existing number should you need to re-enable rear side markers later
    Change existing number to 32

VCDS also showed me a security code of 22790 but I used 16017. My original codes for the left was 51201 and 51233 for the right

    8) Enable coming home/leaving home function DRL
    [Select]
    [09 Central electric]
    [Coding - 07]
    [Long coding helper]
Click on byte 6 and disable bit 4

Leaves the low beams off when unlocking the car and just have the DRLs on when its dark outside, similar to some other Audis. Much cleaner look.

This worked for me, but again no supporting text in the Long Coding Helper

    9) Change the Adaptive Cruise Control Preset distance
    [Select]
    [13 Distance Regulation]
    [Adaptation - 10] --> channel 7
    Change from 0 to 1
    Reboot MMI

Will now have an option in your MMI under Car --> Driver assistance --> Adaptive Cruise Control to set which of the 4 preset distances your car will default to when you activate your ACC.

I now have the option in MMI and made a change.

    10) Turn off parking brake when in park mode
    [Select]
    [53-Parking Brake]
    [Adaptation - 10]
Click the drop down channel menu
Select the "Automatic parking brake for selector lever position P"
    Change to Not Activated

This was already set to "Not Activated" in my car.

    11) Enable window closing with remote (opening is already an option in MMI)

    46 - Cent. Conv.
    Adaptation - 10
    Channel 62
Change value from 8738 to 48059
    Test
    Save

I did what CanuckRS did and added 1 to the existing value of 8738 and the close feature for the windows was now functional (but not the sunroof). VCDS showed adding 16 to the number would allow the closing of the sunroof with the remote and it did.

I hope this helps you folks.

I will appreciate any input as to how to make the 2 changes I was unable to do - Set Audi Parking System switch off speed and turn off the NAV warning message.

    Thanks.
+1!!! I did the same thing and had the same outcomes!

Big difference depending on what model year.
All of the initial instructions are based on Pre Facelift 2016.(C7)
Many of the changes don't translate to Post Facelift.(C7.5)

    Lane Assist

    Hi,

I was just playing a bit about with my VCDS on my facelift A6, and found a nifty setting that i haven't seen posted before.

In Module 8E using the newest version of VCDS, you can actually adjust the lane assist a bit more. I found the following settings to be working:

    1. Change intensity of steering wheel vibration for lane assist

There is actually setting besides whats in the MMI, so you can adapt this a bit.

    2. Change intensity of steering input for lane assist

Works like a charm to change this one, though i actually prefer the medium setting, as high is pulling to hard and low makes me fear to crash :P

    3. Change driver inactive threshold for lane assist

Great setting - factory is medium which by a totally Scientific method of counting in my head will pop the message and disable assist after approx. 10 sec. Low is a bit quicker to annoy with 8 sec. and high gives a bit more time with approx 12 sec. Just enough to not get the message all the time when driving straight ahead with both hands on th Wheel.

    4. Change sound for lane assist warning

You can actually turn the chime of - og select an even more annoying gong sound.

Perhaps we should get a new thread going for the C7.5? Since i can see many questing are repetitions about stuff you can do on the older models, and not on the facelift yet.

I can see around the forums that you actually can make VIM and Green menu available on the facelift, you just need a VCP cable from http://vag-tech.eu/ since VCDS does not support this yet. There is also a older mod using a database injection through sd Card, that should Work.. but for now i'm waiting for the NeXT VCDS version.
