Hey guys - i'm seeing the best MPG in 6th gear around 60-64mph, yielding from the (crappy) computer about an estimated 23-25mpg are you guys getting anything better at long strides and faster or slower speeds?

I usually get the best mpg at around 70mph in 6th gear, obviously. Best I've ever gotten was 31mpg.

I would have to agree, just for curiosity.

I've had my '09 S5 since April this year and I'm averaging around 15.5l/100km, which would equate to around 15.2mpg for the yanks. I live about 5 min from work so most of my daily driving is very short distance with quite a few traffic lights. Over weekends I do try and give my S5 a bit of a good drive, varying from pushing the revs to just having it in 6'th and cruising on the freeway when I will probably get around 23mpg if I'm gentle.

I personally think that this is very high mpg for the S5 and way lower mpg than what Audi claim, but hey, it's a V8 and it's gonna suck fuel, but I enjoy the car too much.
    Regards,
    Steve Knight

hah. more like how often does that happen. not very often. im in the city so i was seeing 8mph more often then anything else.

when i took road trips i usually average around 70-75 mph ( at a 65 limit ) and i can pull off 400 to the tank

ha! I'm not too sure yet of the miles per tank, I'm running about 380-400 miles on this particular tank this week, but it's a HOOT on the backroads before i hit the city every day. Love the fall foliage too and the leaves on the ground allow for fun powerslides before the traffic starts =)

When my fiance' took my RS for a weekend road trip down to Newport it was returned (basically on empty, no surprise there) with nearly 400 miles driven on that tank of fuel. so if we have around a 16 gallon capacity she must have averaged 25MPG. Which shocked me. I usually see the mid teens... oh well.
