Hey everyone I have an 01' allroad 2.7t. recently on my way to work the car stalled after stopping at a light and wouldnt start back up. i had it towed and after i got it to a relatives i let it sit for a while and it started back up. so i got it all the way home before it stalled again. i have changed the crank sensor, fuel pump and coolant temp sensor. I have pulled two codes, first is P0056 for heater control circuit bank 2 sensor 2. the other after changing the parts i have is P0346 for cam shaft position sensor A circuit range performance bank 2. wondering if anyone has any ideas on where to look next. Thanks

16730/P0346 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G163): Implausible Signal

    Possible Symptoms
    Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

    Possible Causes
Wiring from/to Camshaft Position Sensor (G163) faulty
    Camshaft Position Sensor (G163) faulty
    Timing misaligned

    Possible Solutions
Check Wiring from/to Camshaft Position Sensor (G163)
    Check Camshaft Position Sensor (G163)
    Check Timing

    Special Notes
When found in the 3.2 FSI
Please see TPI 2012630 for information about Camshaft Adjusters binding.
If the camshaft adjuster is suspected you may be able to swap the left and right side components to see if the fault code moves (providing the parts are compatible).
On engines with chain driven intake camshaft(s), but belt driven exhaust camshaft(s), verify the number of chain roller links between the intake and exhaust camshafts is correct. Click on thumbnail to enlarge:

Also-- there's a cam position sensor on each head, at the end of the cam. I recently replaced both of mine, $10 each on ebay. Though the engine will run with just one cam sensor working, and the likelihood of both failing is a longshot.
But if one fails with a reading (rather than no reading) to the ECU, I could see it stalling the engine ..and maybe not starting.

Thanks for the fast reply's. would i be able to take the cam sensors and swap them and see if the code changes to test if the sensor itself is the problem? and also i have looked but i haven't found what side bank two is? is that the drivers side? i tested for spark on both sides and the passenger side had spark but the drivers side did not.. the car cranks and fires but it wont actually start up.

Bank 2 is the drivers side.

Do you have a VCDS, or are you using a generic code reader?

I'd unplug the cam sensors one-at-a-time, and try and start with each one unplugged. If it's one sensor's bad signal causing no start then it should start with that one unplugged.

So i have tried unplugging each sensor one at a time n still nothing. The battery is really low so im thinking that could be part of the problem. Will charge it up when i get a chance n let u know how it goes from there.

I see in your first post that you changed the crank sensor, but I had the exact same symptoms and that is what turned out to be the culprit.. it might be possible that you got a bad replacement unit.. might be worth not ruling it out while you're troubleshooting

I read somewhere that with a bad crank sensor When trying to start the car should the rpm guage wont move n it should.. When i try to start my car the needle doesnt move at all. So seems like i might have gotten a bad replacement?
