    Help needed....Heater Control Valve?

Hey member's new to the forum but have gotten some good information prior to actual becoming a member. Here is what I need help with and I did do a search as I didn't want to waste anyone's time but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I recently picked up an 2001 A6 4.2 and I seem to be having the common problem that C6 A6 owners get where you put on the A/C on and if you change the temp from cold to the middle or anything like that you get cold air from the middle vents but hot air from the side vents closer to the window. Based on what I found online it sounds like the heater control valve. My question is does the same apply for C5 A6's and if so where exactly is it located does anyone have a picture of where this is located?

Thanks in advance for any replies

From what I gathered looking at the coolant circuit / A/C wiring diagram on my car (S6-prolly close enough), there is no coolant control valve to the heater core that hinders coolant flow so that's out of the question.

I would take a look at your central air flow flap and see if it will adapt via the basic setting since it's after the heater core in the air flow circuit. The airlfow goes as follows: pollen filter, blower motor, evaporator, heater core then distribution flaps.

IIRC you should have a lower and upper potentiometer reading of something like 20-40/250-265 respectively.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to look into the distribution flaps and see if that may be the issue. Once I figure it out I'll post an update as I'm sure I can't be the only individual to have experience such a thing yet there isn't any threads that I can find about such an issue on the A6 C5 models. If anyone else would like to chime in please feel free.
