Cheapest way to add MP3 to OEM care audio

    1. Year and model of car: 2003 TT convertible
    2. What radio did the car come with from the factory. (It doesn't matter if you have Bose): AM/FM/CD with external CD changer (wasn't with the car when I bought it)
3.Does the car have steering wheel controls? No
4 What is the brand and model number of your new radio? I don't know. Where do I look? It's the stock radio that came with the car
    5. Are you going to be using a Sirius XM satellite tuner if yes which one? No

I just want a cheap way to hook up my andriod phone and play MP3 music (not iPhone) but not using one of those blue tooth things you tune to a radio frequency. They don't work.

Thanks. The google document you have linked on your website says PNP-PIO0236 for the Z150BH (which is apparently different pinout then Z140BH). So I am assuming I should use:

    http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_PNP_PIO0236.html

instead of the one you linked?

And just to verify, the SRWH-AUD3-HILO works with BOSE?

Looking for Recommendation for replacement HU

    Hi,
looking for something that will replace the HU that has MP3 input (note: Not iPhone / iPOD)

    1. 2003 TT convertible
    2. Factory installed Bose Concert with 6 CD Magazine behind driver's seat
    3. It has some type of steering wheel controls but I'm not sure if they are for the audio system. Just a + / - rocker toggle switch on each side of the wheel. I've tried them but they don't do anything.
4 What is the brand and model number of your new radio? I am looking for an entry level recommendation. I just want to swap it out with something that has an MP3 input but utilizes the rest of the stuff that is already there.
    5. No Sirius XM satellite

This will pit most pioneer entry level radios. Once you pick one let me know and we can also get you the radio. The 4600is a popular one.

Thank you for your response. I think at this point, I'm going to just get one of those adapters that hooks to the CD Magazine cable and give you a 3.5 mm male adapter for input.

Christian - I wrote you an email. But I will ask it here for others to see as well.

    1) You used to sell the Enfig SRWH-AUD2-B plus the Enfig RWH-AUD2-HILO - this works off of the Aftermarket HU RCA preamp outputs. Assuming a Bose system where the preamps were 10+v on the Symphany II/ is this AUD2-HILO increasing the output form 4v to 10v? If you have non-bose how is this going to make front (non-amplified speakers) the same as rear unless ALL are lowered. . .(doesn't apply for me as mine are Bose front and back, just asking).

    2) More important question - The new Enfig SRWH-AUD2-HILO you sell to combine both of the above is nice. But this does not use the new HU RCA preamp outputs ..... it goes off of the speaker level outputs. Why did you decide to use the speaker level vs the preamp outputs?? Are these higher than 10v and you are then using the HiLo to lower them down? Or are they lower and then are being boosted to 10v?

I am confused as to why one system was one way and then you switched to a different way on the updated harness.

    Thank you

    1. It never used the RCA preouts. Always brought down speaker output to a higher preout than aftermarket radios. The RCA's are there because it is a universal add on for customers that did not buy their initial installation products from us.
    2. The only reason we switched out setup is becasue it used to cost you an extra $100 to add the hilo. Now since its one part its only an extra $25.

    Ahh.
I was mistaken. My apologies. I saw the RCAs on one harness and not the other and assumed your old setup was taking aftermarket Preamp outputs and then sending them off through the factory 'preamp' wires. Looks like what it was doing is taking the speaker level output, converting and then sending it to the factory preamp output wires. I was confused as there were RCAs attached. Guess this is a 'option' for people to send RCA to aftermarket amps. Which only makes sense if someone bought a aftermarket stereo with out RCAs. . ....

So this means that with the ENFIG_SRWH_AUD2_HILO if I want to run this to aftermarket amps vs the factory Bose Amps I need to purchase Female RCAs with the bullet style connectors on one end? Or... if they are aftermarket amps Id simply not have the problem and be okay with the aftermarket HU's 4v preamp outputs... Got it . .

We could also sell you a harness for $30 if you want to use aftermarket amps down the line. The small box is the same.

Not sure if that car has the factory GPS antenna.

If car has GPS antenna on roof but not behind radio you will also need this extension.

I intend on keeping the Bose speaker system, but could you also give me the required stuff if I plan on upgrading to an aftermarket amp/speaker system? I may run some numbers and upgrade if it is worth the cost and within budget.

    4. I haven't decided yet, I am seriously considering a Pioneer AVH 4000 NEX, what are some other good options? I like using Waze and own an iPhone 4s and the DashCommand app looks sick.
    5. No desire for satellite radio

Is the AVH 4000 NEX pretty much plug and play?

I have to say, enfig has really impressed me with their web presence overall, and the personal attention you are giving everyone in this thread is great.

    Hi Christian,

Cool that you guys are consulting for people in this forum. Good way to earn business. :) Looking for advice on what route to take here:

    1. 2011 A4 Premium
    2. Factory radio: Audi Concert
    3.Steering wheel controls: Yes.
4 Something like the Pioneer's NEX line or CarPlay compatible unit. The wife is an iPhone user and wants hands-free access to her phone and to its maps. That's the only real requirement.
    5. Sirius XM: If it's possible to hang on to the car's existing Sirius functionality, we'd certainly like to keep it, but not a requirement.

I guess my question here is: is there an upgrade path that doesn't kill the existing functionality on the B8 A4? The car's whole function seems tied to the display. I don't mind spending some time and money, but not if it's going to disable all the car controls that rely on the display they've got.

An alternative would just be to get an iPhone mount and figure out how to extend the Audi hookup in the glove box to the dash area - not as elegant as a single catch-all solution but it still gets the job done, and probably much more easily.

Is there really a choice here? A lot of the threads seem to be for pre-B8 models and given how integrated everything in the B8 is, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that one can't replace the factory head unit at all.

    Any pointers?

    Thanks so much,
    Sam

    Christian,
thanks for the straight information. There's so much confusion and mis-information on the web re the various adapters that it's great to have someone to go to directly.

    Ok so here goes.

    1. Year and Model: 2002 A3 8L (Australia Delivered shouldn't be a concern as all the wiring should be in the same colour and in a central position.
    2. Factory radio is a Chorus, 1 DIN unit. I don't know how to tell the difference between a 1 and a 2
    3. No steering wheel controls
    4. New head unit Kenwood KDC-X8019BT
    5. No Sirius XM Sat Tuner

Also what are the stock sizes for the front and rear speaker enclosures.

    thanks

    Pete
