    Intermitant Low Fuel Warning

I'm getting an intermittent low fuel warning even when the gauge and fuel are at 1/2 tank. This randomly happens as I put the car in reverse to back out of my garage. Full it doesn't do it.
This car sat for periods of time in the past because the original owner went to Florida over winters and left the car in the North. I've had the car for 1 1/2 years, this starting to get irritating. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the fuel level sender in the tank.

There appears to be three, do you know the location of the one which triggers the low fuel warning?

I believe its the one in the tank under the seat on the rear passenger side.

That one is for the pump. The fuel level sender is actually behind the rear seat on the flat section. You will have to remove the carpeted board on the floor of the area behind the rear seat to see it.

I understood there are three senders and the gauge reads a value from all three. The upper one is the first to read low, why would that one be the trigger for low fuel when there appears to be plenty of fuel in the lower portions?

Forgive me, I only saw the one on mine... I guess that makes sense why they have 3, give the fact that the tank is such a Goofy shape. As for why, I can't begin to guess. Perhaps if you pull each and check for functionality outside the tank?
