Michelin Pilot Sport..which model to buy?

    Pilot Sport PS2? PS2 ZP?....Pilot Super Sport?....Pilot Sport 3?....load index and speed rating...97Y?....93Y?
I could use some guidance and recommendations.
I had read historical posts, discussions, comparisons and had made my decision long ago to purchase the Michelin's when needed.
Now it's time to replace my tires......went on Tire Rack to order.....and got confused with all of the different models.....help!......Bob

Super sport! If summer is your game. Read the reviews on them, also the cheapest option I believe.

All of the mentioned tires are top notch though.

Sorry to threadjack, but here's a side question - suppose you have a friend who can get you a great deal on conti tires, say 50% on some contisportcontact 5p's. Do you go with

    (a) Michelin PSS $1060/set
    (b) Conti CSC 5P $600/set;

Difference is not a game changer, but $400 would be nice to pocket.

My car came with the Conti tires and I have tracking issues on the road (meaning pulling in either direction) this does not happen on my winters so not an alignment issue. I would not take that deal personally as I am hoping the PSS from what I read that the issue will not reoccur.

Cool, appreciate your advice! Have definitely read that people here are not happy with the conti tires that frequently to come on Audi's from the factory.

Michelin PSS is the the way to go.
I would have bought it but foud a deal on a set of two used an two new PS2s.

PS2 is more pricey is cause its an oem tire if i am not mistaken. PSS is the new replacement and has better tread wear rating

I believe PS2 ZP and PS3 has more sizes and are for porsches. My mechanic has ps2 zp on his 911 and couldnt get sizes with PSS

Go to tirerack and enter your vehicles info, this should give you the proper load rating. Then buy the PSS, mine are a bit loud but awesome in every other way.

Dude you live in NJ, I can get you 20-30% off any tire you want on tire tack. I got Pilot Sport 2's for my car 880 shipped. Just PM me.

This was the first time I actually bought really good tires for any of my cars, and wow what a difference.

I've had them on my Stg 3 S4 and on my A8 now, and absolutely love them. I will have to look when I go outside next and see which ones are on the 8 though, but with PS's you really won't go wrong.

Pilot Super Sport XL load rating. I think 96Y is the minimum. 255/35 19".

I had to replace a tire once because of a nail so I got a used PS3. It had a special marking on the side "AO" for Audi Original. I guess it came off an old B7 S4 or something.

What're you using the car for?

If you're just looking for a good set of summer tires, I love my Pilot Super Sports. Capable tire for not too much money.

The new tires from Michelin are the Pilot Sport A/S 3s and are supposed to have better adhesion than the summer tires but have a 45,000 mile warranty.

I too am a Michelin Pilot Super Sport converty.... took off my brigdstone Potenza RE-11s and thus far have not regretted it one bit.... the pilot super sports respond quicker to turn inputs, have the same if not better traction in the dry, are quieter than the RE-11's and give the car a feeling of absolute security at high speed/spirited driving. For a daily driver car they are the best tires ive driven on thus far. To disclose... I have not taken these tires to the track for a full track day test as I had with the RE-11's.. maybe some else could chime in on this topic.
