Security?*?* (I think)

So I was eating lunch today in the parking garage today, and a beeping starts going off. Sounded like a smoke detector with a low battery. Lasted for about 10 seconds. There was about 20 cars in there so I didn't assume it was me.

Well about 5 minutes later it starts again. I immediately start walking towards the source and it turned out to be my car. No cars on the right of mine where the noise was coming from, stuck my head under the back bumper and was loudest there. While it was beeping I hit the unlock on my fob(doors unlocked) but the beeping continued. After about 10 seconds again it stopped. So I locked my doors back and the light on the drivers door flashed briefly then went solid for about 10 seconds and continued the normal flashing.

I unlocked the car and left it because I'm worried it may start draining the battery.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

P.S. no horn or flashing lights while it was beeping.

That's the alarm system. Might be a short in one of the sensors or something is setting it off.

Its what I was thinking, but hitting the disarm(unlock) on the fob didn't stop it.

I've been having the same issue for almost a week. It goes off a random times throughout the day, the lock/unlock button doesn't stop it, and after i turn it on, the beeping continues, then stopped after a few seconds.

Oops...doesnt i mean, only thing that stops it is when i turn it on and it goes off after a few seconds.....and im not gonna waste gas like that... so i just let it beep. i edited that last post....

Yep. and when i do lock it, if you look at the red light that normally flashes on the drivers side door, it will stay red for a few seconds which is weird.... i can have unlocked and it will go off maybe once or twice...mostly happens when i unlock the car to get something out, and then i open the door, and it goes off. Here a pic of what the fault codes were at work

the ex-wife's A4 was doing this. was going off at 2am and pissing her neighbors off. it's a very common issue for the speaker module in the trunk (behind the liner at the bottom of the passenger side trunk pocket) to go bad and do this exact thing. you can replace it which costs a few hundred or just unplug the damn thing since the alarm is so inconspicuous that no one would even notice if someone punched out your window.

just pull the liner back and reach in there to pull the plug off the speaker unit, no more issue!

biggest downside is you don't get the beep to know it's armed, you have to look for the turn signals to flash.

Ill probably have a tech at work unplug it for the time being, so no more beeping. gets annoying and a little embarrassing when you're helping a friend move and you go down to the side walk where all the cars are and your alarm starts going off randomly...multiple times....

Lol No! but I'm sure if you dug in your trunk and got the part # you wouldn't have a problem finding one online. Or maybe some audizine part wizard will drop the part # in this thread for you to make your life easier.
