What did you do with your c7 today?

After planning this venture back in September, I've finally converted to a full carbon optics package. OEM Quattro grille and spoiler, custom units for the brake ducts by Carbon Fieber, all wrapped in PPF. I wanted it to look nice after being installed so I had the front bumper and hood refinished/repainted at Audi's preferred body shop. Looks brand new and this thing has 48K miles on it!

With much help from the forum, installed my Maxton Design front splitter, side skirt, and rear diffuser. I also did some red vinyl pin stripe at the bottom of the kit, which I think came out really good. To top it all off I have my order in for my new wheels. Rohana RFX7 in black. A little different and very interested to see how it will turn out

Can you share your source of the replacement heatshield material?

After some suggestions from some others... I settled on the DEI 050501 adhesive backed Floor & Tunnel Shield.

I used the stock one as a rough template and then trimmed down. You should have plenty of material with the 21" x 24" sheet (couple inches more you could almost cut 2). Make sure to consider the orientation correctly before cutting so the heat shield side will be correctly facing the top of the engine, the design you cut is not really symmetrical. I fortunately cut enough extra I could fix mine because I made this mistake initially.

Operation Timing Chains has begun with our A7. 205,000 miles.

Still in tear down mode. Spent WAY TOO MUCH time looking for tools yesterday. I had to go out and buy a set of large Allen sockets. Either order off Amazon ahead of time is what I found out or get stuck buying a set for that 1 damned socket you need. Wound up getting a set from Menards in order to get the 19mm aka 3/4" socket for the axles. Still not bad, $25 for the set but I could have gotten the single from Amazon for $8.

I wanted a shop cart so I put my carpentry skills to work and built 1. Spent a whole $9 for the wheels, all else was scrap I already had.

200K really beats the crap out of cooling fins. All the crap under the car had collected on the belly pans. I still have more pans to remove so I am sure there will be more crap on the ground soon.

Added the Euro curved side mirrors. Wow! I had read that they will take some getting used to and I see why. The cars appear further away than you expect so I won't be making any sudden moves in traffic to go round left lane huggers for a while. I was so surprised while stopped at a light that I could see the entire car in my blind spot clearly in the mirror.

I've never loved the RS7 disco ball shifter, but it was better than the pre-facelift C7. But really liked the aluminum on the facelift S7 shifter, but not necessarily the smooth leather. However the S line air leather shifter in the competition trim looked very nice. My amalgamation result: After cutting, trimming and re-gluing, it's a tad short, but I doubt anyone will notice.
