2014 models NOT doing exclusive colors?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just received a gut wrenching phone call from my Audi dealer; I was told they received an e-mail from Audi Corporate (From the VP) saying that for the 2014 S4 and S6's they are not doing exclusive colors, so my Imola Yellow was not going to happen.

Has anybody else heard of this? I called a different dealer and was told they never heard of this but that could be perhaps in the delay of that corporate e-mail? I don't know.

Once I have the e-mail forwarded to me I will post it here.

    EDITed with E-mail:

I received this email from Erin Gowan, who is a VP at Audi and is in charge of the Audi Exclusive program. She was getting back too e regarding the S4 and a client of ours who has ordered an S6.

This is what she sent. Special paint will not be available on the S4 and interior options are not available on the S6. Sorry!

There have been changes in the program and the order guide will be published in a few weeks. It is not planned to include S4 due to factory capacity.

    Best,
    Erin

That sucks man. Factory capacity... guess their sales are doing too well to allow for that. Annoying that they don't offer some of these exclusive colors that people want as standard options.

    and you can't order a 13?

What does factory capacity mean exactly? I called Audi Corporate to double check and they will get back to me by the end of tomorrow with an answer. I cannot order a '13 because Audi told us originally that I had to wait for the '14 model to place a custom color order, now it seems they are screwing me. I'm not sure I really want any other color; my two choices were Sprint Blue and Imola Yellow, if this holds up I can't have either.

Wow that blows, I guess you'll just have to upgrade to the S5 or RS5.

That's really stupid though that the consumers are getting denied this because Audi can't cope with demand. I understand if they extend the delivery date but to cut out the program altogether for the S4 seems a bit extreme.

i guess just that their assembly lines are too packed with regular color orders/builds, and i think it's a process to switch out their regular color "tanks", which is part of the reason it costs so much more for an exclusive color (downtime). So they can't (or don't want to) spare the time to do that. i don't know... i'm theorizing...

get a white car and wrap it yellow, it still looks good. you would probably pay the same for the wrap as the exclusive color. just another option.

My brother has an E92 M3 coupe so I want a 4 door, it has to be an S4...plus it's the car I prefer (body wise, etc). Yeah, I took it with complete shock; I'll wait until Audi calls me tomorrow to see what they are saying officially.

I see. The call really depressed me and I'm not sure what I'll do if I'm not able to get yellow; may end up cancelling all together.

this would really suck! I am on the same boat as SuperCereal...

I've leased BMWs for the past 10 years and wanted to gowith Audi.... placed an order this Saturday for 2014 S4 Sprint Blue -- if this is true, I will cancel my order as I do not like other colors they offer.

From a business perspective of Audi -- it would be very counter productive to deny opportunity to earn business from customers that are willing to pay premium for specific color and wait weeks longer.

They are simply pushing away customers to competitors.

I hope this is a stupid mistake and we are able to get our colors......if not then

I agree, if I am already willing to pay $2500, why won't they allow it....especially when they did it for the 2013 models.

Sorry I missed it. Hmmm, not really too proficient on these wraps; is that something that would come off easily? Would they even have an imola yellow? Don't know how I feel about having that on my car.

I hope it’s just "misunderstanding" and they come back quickly with solution... Audi is a reputable brand and can’t imaging they would reject opportunity to earn $$$..

also if true, it would give off very negative brand publicity due to miscalculated supply/demand on their end.

they have every color imaginable, not sure if it comes off easy though. my friend wrapped his hummer and it looks really good, so i think you should go for it if you really want that yellow color. Maybe you can get some info from people on here about if the wrap comes off easily, but i know it is very durable!

WoodyWho, would you mind sharing the info on when you placed an order? Did you get the confirmation that order is going through?

I would figure Audi would not make 1 custom S4 and stop... if they do, you are on lucky fellow

The wrapping is a great idea. It protects stock paint, gives you more customization, will cost the same, and you can get matte colors too. I say go this route.

But in light of this development Audi really ought to offer more colors. IMHO, the available color selection is poor.

Very poor. I don't get it either because on their German site, they list literally every single color they have (regular, exclusive colors, super exclusive colors) for every model. They have some amazing grays and silvers, but they don't offer them on their cars without a special order from someone who knows about it.

Well, either "exclusive" colors for 2014 are in or out. Does this really have to be so complicated? Hoping one of you can get the whole story. I'm going to guess that the OP (the customer!) will be accommodated in the end.

I'll update the thread tomorrow when I hear from Audi's corporate offices. I hope they can budge because I waited an extra 1.5 months for the 2014 models because I was told I could only order Imola Yellow then, and now to be told I can't get it at all.....well it's beyond upsetting.

    Hopefully it works out.

    This is beyond disappointing!

why would Audi let dealers take 2014 S4 orders (knowing a good number would be exclusive color from the past) and then let them know they are not offering???

    Very unprofessional on Audi's end...

I really don't understand it, and I am beyond furious. Not too sure what I am going to do, not only did I waste 1.5 months waiting for nothing, now I have to "settle" on a color.

Actually, you don't have to settle for anything. One of the only things that businesses understand anymore is the bottom line. If you can't get what you want don't spend your money on it, particularly at this price point. Vote with your wallet and if Audi sees enough of a hit to their bottom line they'll come up with a fix.

I liek the idea of wrapping a white car. The reason I like it is for resale. Yellow is a color not everyone wants. While you love it, it will be a harder sell in the future then a black or white or grey for sure.
As well, the wrap also acts as a paint protectant, leaving your paint perfect, again higher resale for a car with perfect original paint.

    but your call for sure

    I couldn't agree more.

if Audi sees that customers do not 'settle' and lose them to competitors, they will find a fix overnight...

BUT that will only happen if people do not fall for Audi's Plan B "..there's plenty of other beautiful colors we are offering and for the inconvenience we've caused, we'll credit your acct with $$$..."

That's some BS and I wouldn't settle for it. In South Florida, there are so many black, white, silver and gray S4' s and A4's on the road I actually get excited when I see a car with some "color". I would take this to social media (Facebook, Twitter, other forums, etc) and start blasting Audi for removing "exclusive" options which should otherwise be standard. Audi's main color choices suck, IMO. I wanted blue and that's how I ended up with black. A very poor business decision especially when someone is willing to pay extra and wait longer for their custom order. If you make enough noise you just might get what you want. That's what I would do anyway. I don't liking taking no for an answer though.

whats everyone else have to do with him. The guy ordered it weeks ago and got confirmation. Audi could have been doing it at one point and stopped right after his order. I ordered my car June of 2011 and it was the last 2012 with a custom color. I know people couldnt even get exclusive colors after I ordered my car let alone a custom color.

Not taking any Exclusive Color orders for S4 does not make any sense but somewhat understandable.

Taking few Exclusive Color orders and then stopping would be extremely bad business decision for Audi... This would leave many customers unhappy and ruin the company image

Can anyone from Audi dealerships confirm/deny this?
