Here is a shot of the kit and components:

    Solo Werks 2wd Coilover kit:

Here is a shot of the new Quattro Perch that I pulled out of one of the kits that is the difference in the two kits:

Here is a shot of a customer of ours B6 Q from the initial testing:

This is setup at 12.5" Fender to Hub, which on this wheel tire combo is 24 1/4 FTG

Here is another customer that picked up one of the new production kits:

With the Quattro kits, the perch mounts on the top of the spring and the 2wd kits it mounts on the bottom in the control arm.

Let me know if you have any questions!!!!

    Thanks

On the Silver A4, the wheels are:

    Wheels 19X8.5 ET 38
    Tires 215-35-19

And the measurement is currently 12" Wheel Hub to Fender. He may go up a bit but he is having it corner balanced this week

There is about 1" of threads left on the rear perch at this level so achieving a super aggressive show lowering is no problem at all

    Thanks!

SwededA4 in the b6 forum owns the silver car. I know him well. That car is stupid low. Coil overs seem nice for the money.

Personally, I'll keep my pss9 setup but for someone wanting low and coil overs these are a well priced option.

Solos are assembled in California from components they source world wide that are built for them to their specs - pretty much like every other coilover company out there. USA, China and Mexico are the main sources

We have been selling them in the VW world for 2 years now and they are a great setup - pretty much a OEM sport kit ride with height adjustability.

Their features and build quality are up there with ST and Vogtland, but with a single step distribution (less hands in the pocket looking for their share) the price point is lower.

    Thanks,
    Glen @ AMI

So who makes the damper? Thats the important part of a coilover. You can pick any spring and any made in Taiwan color you'd like, but the damper is key. As well as structural integrity on the mounting points, ive seen pictures of coilvers that have snapped in half. Like Mec said, i think youll get what you pay for here.

I dont know if i wanna say build quality is there with ST, maybe vogtland, but ST are made by KW. So i wouldnt go that far. Once your dampers reach this level, then compare them

Solo makes their own dampers - they are not re branded versions of some other brand, they are their own Twin tube, low pressure dampers tuned to their spec.

Being that I came from KW, I am constantly surprised at the new systems coming out and always leery at quality and tuning.

The Solo's have proven themselves to me and are what they claim. They have become our top selling product in the last 12 months - outselling ST 3 to 1, and with less warranty claims on top of it all.

    Just my perspective

Why would you switch from a world leading company like KW? An do you have any shock dynos of the damper for our application?

My contract had ended as Director of Sales, Marketing and R&D, and KW was getting too corporate for my liking - forgetting where they came from and what got them to where they are.

So I purchased AMI and went out on my own and have not looked back.

I do not have the dyno information, but I will ask Solo Werks for it tonight and post it up when I get it .

    Thanks!

So you own AMI? Thats kind of a ballsy move isnt it?

The only up and coming company i have trusted in the suspension business have been Function7, PIC and AMR. Great reviews from all of them and i personally have Function7 LCAs on my Integra and those things are sweet.

That is correct, AMI is mine. Ballsy, possibly - but much more comfortable fit for me personally. Brings me back to my tuning type days managing HPA motorsports ;) in the early years.

I had never been a fan of the universal threaded body coilover systems with the platform specific thread on parts - at least the ones that we tore apart during my time at KW. I have seen a prototype from Solo that they are working on in this realm which looks great, but no idea if it will see the light of day as a production piece.

The companies you mentioned look like they have a nice products in the niche's they are servicing, especially the cnc bits, very nice.

I really appreciate the AMR company and what they are doing - taking the best products out there like Hyperco, Swift, Aurora and integrating them into custom built serviceable solutions for their customers.

    Thanks,
    Glen @ AMI

In the honda scene where i came from it was either Koni yellow/ground control or bust. Then PIC came, then AMR came, and they never looked back. And the honda guys know a bit more about tracking their cars then the guys on here (no offense) since it a lot cheaper to track them. So they eek out the very last bit of traction they can with a FWD layout. I almost jumped on the new Eibach multi pro S2 but $2k+ is steep for a not dedicated track car.

Is Solo gonna release a damping adjustable system in the future? And are custom rate going to be an option?

    It is possible.

If they end up going with the threaded nody style then yes the should be able to do just about anything anybody wants :)

Well that sounds good. Are the springs linear? The pictured ones look slightly progressive? If so is there an option for linear rates? And how much higher than spec rates can the damper handle?

Hey guys, The silver B6 is mine. I am completely happy with the set up. I do a lot of city, highway and mountain driving. So I will be putting these to work. haha I finished balancing yesterday. I can definitely say I am more than pleased with the ride quality. I have to get a front end alignment before I do any real aggressive driving. I swapped my steering at the same time as install. I will report back after that. If you have any questions feel free to pm me

The front and rear springs are both progressive springs, with no plans for a linear option on this model.

The dampers will hold approximately 100lbs rate per corner.

While it will install, the rear spring rate will be a bit light for those looking to get a mild drop.

Solo will be releasing an Avant rear spring in the coming months but there is no solid date when they will be ready.

I wish I knew about this before I got my st coils.

The sts developed a nasty squeaky noise and don't feel like sending them to st (downtime, labor, and shipping costs) to have them looked at. Luckily my buddy worked at Nissan andhad access to some expensive silicone type product he used to put in and helped quiet it down

My guess is that they take time to settle down and you may have to make some adjustments to get the car "level"

Exactly. I set ride height with a half tank of gas and me in it. That way all 4 corners are set at 23.75" with my ass in it.

We have not received a specific timeline on the pricing, but this price should be around through the end of September at least :)

    Thanks,

I am very interested in this. What exactly does the limited 3 year warranty cover? I'm not sure what other coilover sets usually cover since this would by my first time looking into it.

Hello Kingzilla17, thanks for the question!

The warranty coverage is pretty standard out there in the suspension industry and it covers manufacturers defects etc.. The big bonus with Solo Werks is that they are not only willing to work with you by providing replacement pieces ahead of time so you dont have any down time (with a deposit once they determine it is a defective item), but they are always wanting to improve the product line. Therefore if there is a problem you encounter they actually look into it, not just ship you off a new piece and hope that fixes it.

The prime example is the MK5/6 VW/Audi platform front end squeak. All the other coilover manufactures just sent out new parts if someone had the problem. Solo Werks found out the real problem was in the OEM mounts, and had 034motorsports build a new mount in their Density Line program that fixed the problem. (more info can be found here in our thread on the VWVortex - Click Here)

Here is the exact Warranty Terms and Conditions info from the Solo Werks Site:

Solo Werks Limited Warranty Terms and Conditions
Solo Werks provides a 3 year limited warranty to the original retail purchaser of any Solo Werks S1 Coilover Kit.

This limited warranty covers defects in materials and manufacturing of the components of the Solo Werks Coilover Systems on street driven vehicles only.

Installation or labor charges for removal, re-installation or alignment are the responsibility of the end user, and will not be covered or reimbursed by Solo Werks or any of its authorized agents.

    Maintenance & Additional Details
Upkeep and maintenance on all exterior finishes on Solo Werks products is the responsibility of the original purchaser, and is not considered a valid reason for warrantee claim.

This includes powder coating, chrome plating, paint & zinc plating. Solo Werks recommends the use of various products to extend the life of these items, contact your authorized dealer for more information.

Solo Werks or its authorized dealers will not be liable for connected systems, components or consequential damage caused by failure of any Solo Werks products.

Damage to the components or complete Solo Werks system caused by misuse, mis-installation, misapplication, collision or off road activity (i.e. motorsports) is not covered by any portion of the Solo Werks limited warranty. This includes usage at height levels outside of our published operating range for each system.

It is up to the discretion of Solo Werks to repair or replace a component.

In order to qualify for warranty, the original purchaser must follow the full claim procedure listed.
