Havent seen any post on someone doing that, but 200 bucks is 200 buck. I can weld it for free lol id post a pic but cant figure out how hehe
I would not .. there is a rubber seal in there. against the back section . plus the impeller I believe I some type of nylon or plastic. Also it depends on that back surface to be absolutely flat and welding could warp it.

Aluminum welding is a pretty special skill . If you are skilled at aluminum welding you can go for it as I don't like telling anyone they cant do something. I just don't think it is advisable in this case.

Word of caution though. Any extra sealer on the inside will be shaved off by the pump impeller and end up in your oil. That's is not good. When I did mine I could see chunks on the impeller so i picked them out and flushed through the vacuum port before re-installing.
    total cost.to.fix was about 12.00
I did the vacuum pump gasket, I still have a sort of loose vacuum port and it leaks oil of course. Is replacing the vacuum port oring alone enough or what else would I need?

If you replaced the gaskets and missed the o-ring in the port then replacing that should do it.

I just did the vacuum pump 'rebuild' On my recently to me new Avant - it wasn't leaking but I was doing the coolant flange so I got the stuff just in case.

How much oil is typically in the vacuum pump when you remove it?

Mine had about 3oz in there.

sounds about right .. its just what is splashed in there from the head .. the issue really isnt the leak , the issue is what the oil does to the coolant flange and seal right below it .
