    Reverse Parking Sensors

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone ever had an issue with their sensor? When I put the car in reverse now I get a solid beep even when nothing is behind me, and it goes away after about 3-5 secs, but I don't think its detecting when I get close to things anymore.. It used to work great, but I think its malfunctioning now.

That's the system telling you that one of the rear sensors is failing. If you go in via vag-com, it will tell you exactly which sensor is faulty.

I believe so via adaption values, but I'm not sure what channel (It's not documented), I just recall coming across it when I was looking into my sensors.

Reviving this thread. My shop was able to order the back-up sensor and it came in today. My question is, does the sensor need to be painted before install? He said it was black. Thanks!!!

That's what I'm thinking too. I read on QW that some of the sensors don't require you to remove the bumper to swap out, so hopefully that is the sensor on my car that needs to be replaced.

I'm not seeing many threads about parking sensor issues but I have an issue that I have not seen mentioned.

In the last few days putting the car in R has not made the system ping noise like it should when the gear is engaged. The car also started beeping while driving forward. My guess is a loose connection somewhere as the beeping seems to be more frequent over bumps.

Does anyone know where the likely fail points are? Car is a MT if that makes my difference.

I just cleaned each sensor with rubbing ancho and see no difference.

    Confirmed reverse/brake/turn signals all work.

While waiting for the street cleaner this morning (after cleaning) the system was beeping with the car idling in neutral. After about 2 mins it stopped. The sensors still seems to work when parking.

Mine started doing the same thing after washing. Under hard acceleration, the sensors would beep or driving by anything close to the shoulder of the road. After it sat for a night it went away. Not sure but it's going in to be checked. I'll keep you posted.

Please do let me know, mine also started right after a wash but it's been a few days and about 100 miles since and it's still beeping.

I had that happen as well. This was after a second wash, thinking I sprayed under the car on th first wash, it then lasted two days. The passenger mirror also would not come back to level after switching out of reverse. Day 3 I turned the passenger side mirror switch back to center and the mirror came back up and the beeping stopped. I'm still traveling on business so the car won't go in until next week. But I'll keep you posted when I find out.

reviving this thread from the ashes like a phoenix.

My rear sensor beeps about 3-5 secs solid (like badblue was saying), and the short beep when Reverse is engaged, does not sound sometimes. I'll try cleaning the sensors from the out side, but if they are faulty, do I need to get them at the stealership? How hard was it to install new sensors?

Reviving this thread. I'm getting the 3-5 second long beep when engaging reverse the first time after switching on the engine (no beep on reverse usage thereafter as long as engine hasn't been switched off). Vag-com shows the following fault:

Address 76: Park Assist Labels: 8E0-919-283-8EC.lbl

Anyone can tell me what "Open or Short to Ground" means? Car was washed recently and the problem started showing up soon after. Water in the sensor?

That means you have a bad sensor. Easy.

You can tell which sensor is faulty by turning the key but not turning on the car, put the car into reverse. Put your ear up to each sensor. The sensors that are working will be making a small clicking noise. The ones that arent working wont be making any noise.

Thanks for the responses. Dealer quoted me $190 for EACH sensor (OEM, unpainted, not installed)!!!! They are willing to install third party sensors for me if I get them painted first. Anyone have a recommendation on what to buy?

If I follow the above directions, it seems like I have two sensors failing (left outer and right inner). The other two appear to be making the expected clicking noise. Its kind of interesting what I have found searching online for replacement parts. As best as I can tell the OEM part number is either 7H0919275A or 7H0919275D. Genuine OEM (Audi branded) replacements are available on Ebay and various other parts websites for anywhere between $130 to $180, roughly the range the dealer quoted me. But then there also appear to be exact looking parts from China on Amazon and Ebay for $10 to $20. Visually these look identical to the OEM ones other than missing the Audi logo. The dealer wants to take off the rear bumper to install new sensors, approx $450 in labor. Add in the spray and parts cost then this is looking close to a $1000 fix for just replacing two sensors if I go the OEM route. So my questions are:

Can someone confirm the part number for a 2007 RS4.
Does the bumper really need to come off to replace the sensors?
Has anyone tried using the $20 versions instead of the OEM ones?

Your p/n is correct. You need to pull the bumper to replace some, but not necessarily all of them. I just went through this.. Replaced the right center one... Bumper came off.

You want to put cheap chinese crap on there? Go for it. It's your car.
