    Launch Control at the track.

Took the car to the track last night just to get a baseline. I read everywhere that launch control doesn't help you any. I was wondering in your all's opinion why it doesn't? I've drag raced for years and just recently sold my race car to buy a S4 and as far as auto's go the more rpm you can get off the line to get you to your peak torque the better. Last night the best 60' I could pull going off idle was a 2.1 and ran 13.5@105 Used launch control and went 1.93 60' and ran 13.0@106. The question I had was is this because my car is 100% stock? After I get it tuned is that when not using launch control is better? Also could the 2013's gearing in the tranny be different and that's why its lagging when no launch control is used?

    Launch Control at the track.

All the guys with the lowest quarter mile times do NOT use launch control, but intuitively, that just doesn't make sense to me. I've not tested it at the track, but at GIAC Stage I and with my P3 gauge, I achieved MUCH better 0-60 using launch control, for what it's worth

On my stock 2013, butt dyno tells me launch control is noticeably faster...

Yea I'm with you it just doesn't make sense. I'm just wanting to figure out the logic behind it. When I don't use LC it seems like it hangs up forever taking off and then starts moving up in the rpm but with LC very short delay when launching and then immediately goes through rpm. That's why I was wondering if the tune is what's making the difference not using it.

Is there some way to adjust the LC RPM through VCDS?

Highly doubtful you can gain access to this type of stuff through VCDS, even if you can find a menu that makes sense, unlikely the coding/changes will be accepted. Although GTI's can change the ESC and anti-torque steer stuff, so maybe there's a way.

But considering how hard GIAC worked at the DSG tune, it's got to be tricky.

Nope. The S tronic TCM tune does change it though.

So, I'd be able to have the TCM tune alone?

I've run my car dozens of times. At first, I was quicker with L/C, but now that I have some experience, I don't see any difference. The key is getting the timing of brake pedal release/gas pedal push exactly right.

When done correctly, launching without L/C is smooth AND quick.

I got 4.3 sec no LC to the century with Giac Stage 1, I'm dsg. After Stage 2 despite the car feels much faster I only got 4.4 on the P3 gauge..I notice there's a slight hesiation on before the car accelerstes, maybe that's why the slower times... Haven't tried with LC yet on Stage 2..will update soon.

I have beaten this topic to death started many threads. With the TUNE the LC hangs up and bogs. Stock it jumps off the line. You get a better time with LC every time the reason the guys don't use it, because it does not function after the tune. Only GIAC has a fix for the LC working.

I am waiting for a DSG fix from APR to get these things fixed.

    Not entirely true.

My car is STaSIS-tuned, and my L/C has always worked fine. My personal-best 60 foot time of 1.774 was done without L/C.

Fellow CPL here.. Sweet username indeed haha

LC at the track at least in my case 1/8 of a mile, works better than just flooring it off the hole... anybody knows the best speed for a rolling start?
