What Went Wrong With Your B6 Today?..

to me it looks like someone changed the oil and did not clean up the mess after removing the filter.
I always try to catch the leaking oil with a plastic cup ( cut in half milk jar)

if the crackshaft seal is leaking the oil does not end up in the area which is in the picture.

I know it's leaking some where because the past month I have used a full quart to fill up due to low oil warning on my dash. I have put something under my car, so I will see how much oil actually leaks..
So we'll see how this progresses.

I'd check hoses and PCV just in case before buying parts. I replaced my block breather elbow and didn't have the o-ring and had similar problem. Just sayin'

And all my washer fluid leaked out from the front. I have the headlight washer hose plugged. So who knows. Man it has been a not so good day for the avant. At least it run and drives fine. I'm glad this is happening now and not during the upcoming road trip.

I went to check my oil and change my burned out hid bulb only to break my hood release handle... Ive tried to pull the ball that sits in the handle with no success. Im not sure if my cable is pinched or not lubed properly, what a frustrating time

My control fan module is out so everytime I get to a red light I have to turn car off so that it don't over heat, also my back windows regulator decide it to go out the same day and a week later my driver window regulator wen out to and the best tho g of all is, is raining like crazy here in Florida.

As she sits in the driveway today..

- cracked windsheild (stupid gravel trucks)
- Driver's door doesn't unlock via remote (but works with the key in the lock) - most likely door wiring harness
- Lt Frt level sensor triggers a fault after 10-15 min of hightway driving - can drive forever off hightway and it never trips - any ideas?
- transmission whine (again :( ) Not the easily accessable front diff, but something deep in the bowels of the trans. $$$ to find out how much more $$$

I think my serpentine belt tensioner is starting to fail. Not good not good. I'm out in the middle of no where west South Dakota. Hope it can last another 2k miles.... have a gut feeling I may be doing a hotel parking lot tensioner change, if I can locate one. :banghead:

Replaced both front window regulators and found out the plastic gear on my driver side window motor is stripped to shit and that I can only roll up my passenger window from the drivers side, not down... Grrrr.

A/C compressor pulley bearings are shot. Took off the belt and swapped it with a shorter one to bypass the A/C. 1700 miles from home. The drive home is going to suck!

went to visit my gf's family. drove an average 80mph for about 1hr.. when we finally got off the highway, during the surface streets the a4 started to have misfires and shakes like a mofo. sweet! good thing is that now my gf is experiencing the issues with me and now greenlights me getting a new car lol.

Better to see the common problems that exist with a car and have an understanding of what could potentially go wrong rather than buying another car and have no clue when shit starts breaking.

Last night, when engaging the right turn signal, the "right turn signal lamp out" came on, and the blinker started blinking quickly. Stopped to check it out with Wifey. All blinkers were working correctly, the warning light was out and all was back to normal.

I'm chalking it up to low blinker fluid. I'll have to check my Bentley, but I assume that the blinker fluid is changed underneath the car, too.

The blinker fluid reservoir is located in the fuel tank. Youll have to cut it open with a dremel or something.... or so Ive read.

Mine did the same thing for a while. Eventually the bulb went out and I replace it and all was well...... of course with topping off the blinker fluid.

Yeah completely fine. Im pretty sure the procedure is covered in the manual. Also, if you can locate the reservoir in the gas tank, due to lack of lighting, you can use a flare to locate it.
