    A4 B6 Aftermarket vs. RNS-E Integration JVC nt-0800

Before I start talking about the install. I have a 2004 A4 B6 and installed a JVC kwnt-800HDT with all the bells and whistles of OEM integration for you purists (myself included). Once I found out about the sharkfin GPS integration I was pretty much sold on the aftermarket unit...

I debated for a long time whether or not to go OEM with the RNS-E or go aftermarket. I think I have officially fallen into the OEM + territory with the aftermarket JVC kwnt-800hdt and OEM integration. I have successfully routed the GPS antenna to the sharkfin (12 SATs normally, never less than 10), I have routed the Bluetooth mic into the overhead light compartment where the stock would have gone (so easy after taking the pillars apart for the GPS line on the passenger side), and will be routing the stock XM/Sirius antenna connection to the aftermarket Sirius unit sxv200v1 as well.

The nt-800 has by far exceeded my expectations and I can't imagine that a 10 year old RNS-E system could even come close to how well it performs. I think the JVC unit looks better as well, 7 inch touchscreen, enough said.

Don't waste your time taking an aftermarket head unit to a shop to be installed, just give Christian a call at Enfig, order all the plug and play parts and do it yourself. There are so many DIYs that you will do a much better job than any shop in your area would do.

So I know this was a pointless post but I think I would have liked seeing it when I was deciding.

I might post some pictures later if people want to see some. Honestly, I'm just bored at work and waste 99% of my time on forums these days. What a waste considering I work off commissions...

The Connects2 isn't bad, but I hate that you still use the trim piece that came with the unit. They make some that sit flush with the HU. I will most likely get the one below. It looks like a good match.

But that is the least of my worries. I love this HU. It does everything very well. Traffic updates, speed cameras, radio/pandora/sat and gps at the same time on the same screen. It even tells me the speed limit on whichever road I'm on. It all works flawlessly.

Definitely get the Enfig dash kit, I have/had the Scoshe kit and while it looked OK, I now have the Enfig kit and it looks so much better, it also goes together really easily. Mine is somewhat hacked up though, as I am trying to use it to hold a Nexus 7 in place. It's an exact match to the factory plastic, and has a bevelled look to it instead of being flat like the other kits.
