    08 Q7 S-line with some mods...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    here's my 08 Q7 S-Line 4.2:

installed Adam's Rotors & LED DRLs yesterday.

    so far:

    21x10" OEM Titanium Peelers
21x10" OEM RS4 S-line wheels (powder coated satin black)
    H&R spacers 18mm F, 30mm R
    AR Track rotors w/Posi pads
    lowering links
    LED DRL w/turn signals
6000K Xenon bulbs, PIAA ion yellow fogs
gloss black front plate delete panel
3M Crystalline tint all around including windshield/panoramic roof

up next: euro e-codes, facelifted black S-line grille + rear valence, Remus exhaust, powder coat all trim + roof rails/running boards to match Audi Ti finish... then maybe a set of 22x12 custom forged wheels.

one problem I ran into was swapping out DRL bulb in headlight to LED. Went with these 10W 1156 50-SMD Error Free LED 2X Error Free 10W White 1156 7506 P21W 67 5008 50 SMD LED Backup Light Bulbs F3 | eBay but bulbs burned out in a couple of days, got replacement and same thing happened. Plugged stock halogens back in and they work fine. Any ideas on what might be the issue? any recommendations on 1156 bulbs that work?

Look's great , very nice.!!!! It's there any rubs when you turn the wheel or when you hit a bump because H&R spacers ?? Any change on the driving feeling with the spacers ??

no rub whatsoever, feels much more planted with wider track and definitely handles better with less body roll. ride height level in pics above is "comfort" can still go lower in "dynamic" mode. ride quality is a barely stiffer than stock at this lowered height.

So you got the adaptive air suspension on it !!!! It looks like your confort mode is lower than the dynamic mode in the stock version ??!!! You can chose the height you won't playing with the spec in the vag-com ????

It is much lower than stock dynamic mode. My dynamic mode now will tuck tire! Best part of lowering links on air suspension is easy adjustability for whatever height you want without messing with VAG. Used lowering links on my S8 on air also, same results.

Hey 10 Bulls, it's Nils here (the guy that bought the S8 wheels/parts). For some reason your pics don't open up on the thread? Send me a pic of the Q7 if you get a chance.

The A8 is looking better than ever still - BTW.

Hey Nils! great to hear from you, post some pics of the A8. Really miss my S8, but the Q is really the RIGHT car for the fam and honestly much more comfortable for wife and kids. pics of my Q should be ok now in post #1.

I might be getting another weekend toy soon... possibly something with 2 seats and no top or something with just 2 wheels... stay tuned!

Did the brembo stickers come from ebay? Can you tell me if the sidewalls of your tires line up to the edge of the OEM fenders or the s-line's add on fender trim? I am trying to figure out what sized spacers to use on my q7 with the Stock 20's.

Yep, decals off eBay. Vendor is located in Long Beach, CA. 18mm F 30mm R spacers push wheels almost flush to S-line fender trim, still little bit more room. would prob go with 23mm F 35mm R if I did it again... but what I really need are 12" wide rears! ;)

    OEMplus has lowering links: http://www.oemplus.com/suspension-lo...cal-p-529.html

but you could also find them on ebay for cheaper. very easy install, they just attach to sensors at four corners for air suspension.

@ 10 bulls I don't want to bother you with this, but just to understand well before buy. When the lowering links is install and we want the car 2 inch lower, it make the dynamyc mode 2inch lower, the confort mode 2" lower etc . BUT Your higher mode will also be 2" lower ???!!! So if you are in the snow and need to lift the car at is max level you can't ?!?! Did I am right ?

any long term effects from having the lowering links? eg. lessen the life of the struts? i remember this used to be the case with the airmatic suspension in the E55's...

ps. car is looking great. can't believe it has changed/improved the look so much with the lowering and the spacers!!

Incredible!!! Is that even possible on a 2010 Q7 S line to lower it that much? I don't have the adaptive suspension on mine for whatever reason. I do have 21" tires wheels though

No idea on offset, but I'm pretty sure they're DPE CS20's - I'm guessing the size is 22.

They have them on ebay, cost around $400. Not sure why they cost so much.

10 Bulls, Love the aggressive stance you achieved…

    New to the Q7 family myself with a 2008 Sline – 4.2 as well….

Couple of questons if you don't mind:

Did you powder coat your calibers or paint them?

Also, are our calibers supplied by Brembo OEM? If so, then I’m going to get those stickers as well…but in silver….looks great!!! Was looking to do rings or just Audi on them...but really like your look....

Make sure to post your net upgrades: euro e-codes, facelifted black S-line grille + rear valence, Remus exhaust…really looking forward to what these look like.

Again, really love the car and providing me some good ideas…..

Yes they are Brembo. The RS decal is also another option that looks cool.

Also I'd suggest having your wheels powdercoated versus painting them.
