Its very hard to properly modify a stock air box, what you might think is a great thing to remove took engineers several months to perfect. In general you want an enclosed box with access to fresh cold air protected from engine bay heat.

You also want enough air flowing in and a filter that can pull enough CFM at WOT. 90% of aftermarket filters were not designed with this in mind most companies pick a filter that fits in their location they want with zero thought into what would be optimal.

So for our cars to maintain 12 psi (stage1 tune) stock tune drops off after 4500 iirc. Is a 7.2" long air filter or 110 square inches of surface area.

This filter appears to go slightly beyond the needed numbers for 12 psi possibly in the 13-14 psi range. Though without the exact size specs and CFM flow I cant be 100% sure.

Just thought I'd share some fun facts, I spent over a year designing an optimal intake and custom size air filter for my turbo RX-8 I am really into intakes I have no idea what my obsession is with them...
no, that box whole gets covered from the top, it is still only sucking in air from the front of the car. That hole inst exposed once you put the top cover on.

I've got what is probably going to be an issue in the future. Sorry for the blurry photo, but the tang on the clamp on the left is poking into the intake hose. I'm thinking just using a large nut smooshed between the hose and the clap. I'd place the hole in the nut over the clamp. The nut itself would ride on the clap and the nut would be large enough to not cause a problem with the hose.

Other suggestions? I guess I could twist the clamp slightly.

    Anyone else see this issue?

When we install the hose, we rotate that clamp if it touches. (not all cars have the clamp oriented the same)

We have a TRUFit turbo inlet hose for the A4 and recommend either the APR/Carbonio Intake (our hose was designed to make it fit perfectly) or a drop in air filter.

We have a really nice set of silicone intercooler hoses

2014 Audi S4 B8.5 Intake. What to do?

I have a 2014 S4 and recently had the Stage ll APR ECU Reflash and Pulley with Belt installed. The APR full exhaust is being installed next week. Since I went all APR so far I was going to install the APR Carbonio Intake but they still have not finished developing an intake that will fit with the 2014 S4 B8.5 facelift. Will the Trufit work with the B8.5 and would it be a mistake to not stick with APR?

It will work (I have it on my B8.5). Wouldn't be a mistake, pick whichever brand you want.

Soap and water my friend. Just dry it afterwards... Don't make it difficult.

after the smoking price EC put these things at, i bought one and just installed tonight. first impression, looks clean, nice parts and pieces. Wish it came with directions (would've saved me some time) or at least had directions posted online (which they don't). And not as simple as i would thought to install, but not terrible. Great mod for the money! Subtle sound that i was looking for, and of course a little more HP :)

Agreed about the instructions. They should have been written when it was released. That said, I got a very fast email reply that answered the 3 detailed questions hat I had about the install.

    1. don't reinstall the 1/4" thick OEM O-ring
    2. don't need to use Loctite to secure the filter to to the top of the airbox
    3. you MUST line up the notches in the hose with the airbox clips (mine prefer to be 1/4" off but "they test every unit and it will fit").

I recommend getting everything connected including the very front airflow piece that connects to the airbox, then adjust the hose to fit the notches, then tighten the hose clamps. When I tightened everything then tried to attach that front airbox piece, it didn't fit well.

So apparently one needs to be very careful not to over tighten the two screws attaching the filter to the airbox as they will tear right out of the rubber on the filter. Looks like I need a new filter... so not happy about this. What is the difference between the aFe Power Magnum FLOW OER Air Filter on the eurocode site and Eurocode's own filter?
