I have H&R coilovers on mine and the spring rates are way too soft and allow for too much body roll. Hopefully you guys can get the manufactures to offer correct spring rates for the Allroad with this build.

The Allroad lists curb weight at 3891lbs and the A4 2.0t Avant at 3814lbs. I wouldn't think the issue is the need for Allroad specific springs but that the H&R springs are not what you are looking for in terms of suspension. As long as the car is sitting at a reasonable height then the springs are not incorrect for the application, but they are designed to be that soft and work with factory dampers. I can't help myself when it comes to suspension and had to go with STaSIS Ohlins SL (Challenge) suspension and used the A4 Avant spring rates...



Completely transformed the car. Just like all the other cars I've done Ohlins based suspension in there is just nothing that compares, flat ride, firm but completely comfortable (actually more comfortable than the factory sport suspension) and the rear sway bar combined in with the kit really helps balance out some of the push these cars exhibit. I'm really impressed with the setup as my first B8/B8.5 model with this kit installed.

Ah, so you have a used H&R coilover kit. The H&R coilovers for the A4 Avant should work on the Allroad without issue, however they will be reasonably softer and have more roll than something like the Ohlins SL. If it's really bad you may want to peak at the dampers and look for leaking oil, but generally a dead damper or two will be very obvious and not great for driving on.

The Ohlins SL do not have adjustments and in 99% of use adjustment is not needed. Dampers and springs are matched to work well together and adjustment on a suspension is something that in the end tends to lead more than a few users into "tuning" it improperly. I always tell folks to try and get a ride in cars with suspension you are considering to get the full story.
