Got my kit yesterday and headed to the shop....
Filter, Plugs, Gasket and Hightec ATF 9008 - Lifeguard 8 (5 Liters) - Rowe 2506353803 (OEM trans oil).

Then!!!! a transmission cooling line developed a hole??? and now a rupture! Good thing I was not driving during the rupture....Need to replace the line. At least if happened before the Drain/Fill service.
Can anyone confirm that the lines are all the same, diameter, turns etc. 8k0-317-817-BD + 818 BD vs. 8K0 317 817 AT + 818-AT? I am 2.0 6speed with Tip.

I only see a difference I see is the letter suffix BD, AT, indicating the engine type https://www.audiusaparts.com/?year=2...&search_in=all

I' am going to replace both as a precaution and may go used on these since its the price for both is less than 1/2 the price for 1.

    Can Anyone clarify...
    Thanks

Hallo guys, I'm very happy to see your experience for changing Quattro Manual Transmission Fluid
May be I have the only one Quattro Manual Tranmission in China, So, you can feel how exciting I can saw your experience(Nothing I can find from Local Website regarding to this Transmission).....

I brought a new Tranmission 0B2 for my A4 not long time ago,
However, I found the Tranmission Fluid is so expencsive. (In china, for OEM Fluid it is about $45/ Liter), which means I have to pay more than $225 to fill the transmission.

I found you are using the Redline MT-90, it do much cheaper than OEM type. however, I understand the MT-90 is GL-4, which is not use for such the Torsen application.
I checked Torsen website, it mentioned our Torsen Differential can only use GL-5 type, which is use for heave load of Gear...
you can also refer to the website below:
    https://torsen.com/faq/

So I wounder How is your transmission with MT-90 is now. Or do you heard about other type Fluid could replace that... I'm trying to get some soultion with my transmission Fluid.

    Thank you!

Isn't the Torsen center differential in a separate sealed box (transfer case) from the manual transmission? It uses separate fluid from the 6MT.

As my understanding it should be NOT seperated, only one drain bolt screw was found on the transmission. So I think that might be the reason why VW OEM fluid is GL-5 type.

    Hi,
You are still ok with Ravenol MTF-2 75w80? I was thinking to use it, as is the only oil producer that is recommending their product instead of OEM, it has the right standard G055532A2, GL4 and lowest copper corrosion factor, 1A.

The OP was very wrong, hence the problems with shift in low temperatures, because MT-90 is good only for the rear diff. For the gearbox you should use 75w80 RED LINE MTL® 75W80 GL-4 GEAR OIL acording to their configurator.
There is a big difference in viscosity between them. MT90 75W90 GL-4 gear oil (similar to SAE 5W40/10W40 engine oil viscosity) and 75w80 is SAE 30, 10W30 and 5W30. If in an engine you can play with viscosity a little, for the gearbox things are different.

It would be nice that someone will modify the first post to tell people to stop putting MT90 in their gearboxes which needs G55532A2 because it doesn't respect this requirement.

Bumping this thread.....also agree with the previous statement that you want Redline MTL, not Redline MT-90.

Do anyone have a "go to" tool to remove the drain without removing the cross brace? I am almost tempted to destroy a 10mm hex socket and use that with a wrench to loosen it. Can't believe the engineers didn't provide enough access to just stick a 10mm hex socket in there. Also, anyone replace the plug with one with a 17mm head....perhaps like my BMW e36 uses?

I'm also curious about this. Looking down there, it appears to be possible... but I don't want to buy the bolts and not use them, or need the bolts and not have them.
    thanks boys!

I ended up just cutting 10mm from my 10m hex key. no subframe removal necessary.

I always found jacking the car up onto 4 jackstands to be sketchy. The only thing that matters is that you are filling it on level ground. What I like to do is jack the left front corner (then place 1 jackstand for safety), remove rear underbody shield, drain, attach a long fill tube and drop the car back on the ground before I begin to refill until I see it dripping underneath (takes around 4.5 liters). Jack the left front corner a 2nd time to close the fill hole and put the rear shield back on. Only the rearmost carpet cover under the transmission needs to be removed. Saves a lot of time compared to jacking all 4 corners once to put it up and a second time to get it down. I never touch the subframe bolts. Just cut a 10mm allen key with a cutoff wheel or buy a stubby allen key set.

The two plastic rivets holding the back of the transmission shield on can be removed very easily with this tool: https://www.harborfreight.com/panel-...ers-63699.html. Small price to pay just to get them off quickly and pain free.
