Eurocode VS H&R VS Hotchkis sway bars... Is there a clear winner among these 3?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am mostly concerned with proper/excellent fitment (i.e. no rubbing or interfering with other components) AND OEM quietness (i.e. no clunks or squeaks). Looking for quality here

Those are the two biggies for me.

The H&R bushings are Teflon or graphite (forgot which) coated and will not squeak. Even after 2 years without greasing, they were quiet.

I have eurocode sways and end links. I haven't noticed any new noises but my car creaks going up steep inclines at slow speeds when entering a parking garage for example. It's done that as long as I remember, even before the sway bars and end links were installed.

I'm running hotchkis sway bars with stock end links. Haven't noticed any noise or anything else problematic. Like them a lot.

I have a B8 A4 (which I think are the same as the S4) as well as EuroCode endlinks and H&R coil overs. I haven't found any noise at all from the suspension or anywhere else. I put the sways on first and the change was amazing just from them. The H-sports are the thickest of all the brands I found. I'm actually considering switching to the EuroCodes to soften up the ride a bit. It's awesome on smooth or normal roads but on semi rough or worse roads, it can be harsh.

I don't think you can go wrong with the EuroCode parts, I am very happy with mine after two years. No noise, and the car is a beast. No experience with the other brands.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I am thinking about the H-sport ones right now. They seem a little more simple since only the front is adjustable. I don't want to have to play with set-up more than once. I also don't want to have to deal with getting end-links either, I want to keep the stock ones.

I also want a more firm, flatter ride. That is the biggest thing I miss about the TTRS. I don't miss the understeer though, the S4 is like a slot car on throttle in the corners compared to the TTRS that just plowed thru them.

Would there be any reason these wouldn't work with ADS?. Would it void the suspension or warranty on any part of it?

How hard is it to regrease them? Is that true of all aftermarket sway bars?

my euro code sways and endlinks where quiet for almost a year, started making noise when pulling into drive ways and eventually when stopping/starting, got them lubed up, and they were quite again, but after some heavy rain which probably took away some of the lube, just a few months later, they are starting to make some mild noise again pulling into the driveway. My local tuner shop charged around $130 to inspect and lube them up. It will probably be a yearly thing.

It's just a few grease nipples. Shouldn't take more than 10-20mins to do the whole thing. $130.00 is crazy imo.

Had Eurocode sways on my A4, just over a year of having them they were rusting and making noise. Had H&R on my Jetta before and never had any issues, ill be going H&R this time around.

I'm running the H&R rear bar for going on 3 years now with no noise or issue... I'm adding the front one this winter and will go with H&R for the front also... Had the H&R bar on my A4 for years with no issue as well...

The Eurocode bars are a bit thicker than the others. A few mm thicker than the H&R. I went with the Eurocode full suspension setup, love it! Can't attest to squeaks, etc as I had some noise until I tightened up the bolts on my sway bar links. Outside of that no real issues.

Hotchkis incorporates a nipple on their bushings to make regreasing a piece of cake. You just need a grease gun and takes 5 minutes.
Other bars like the Ecode don't have this feature, so the bushings are easiest to lube when they are removed from the car.

No basis for comparison on this chassis with the other brands mentioned, by I love my H&R set. Silent, very noticeable handling benefits, and zero fitment issues (I installed these myself).

I went with the Eurocode ones... and here's my reasons... The front swaybar had a much better thickness than other brands i looked at.. 32mm and of course the adjustability. The rear is 25.5 which also were slightly thicker than others and on top of that...the eurocode also has two settings in case you're not happy with a hard setting!... The icing on the cake were those awesome quality end links that eurocode matches with their bars... I was only going to buy the front endlinks, but then i read somewhere after i had bought them that good quality endlinks add extra rigidity to the bars and after seeing the original OEM.. i think they are made out of hard rubber.. there's was no way i was going to skip the rear endlinks... So i held off on the install and bought the rear endlinks as well... So Eurocode having the whole set up was a plus for me!... I've had their entire setup on my car with H&R Sports Springs for a few days now (Didn't want to go much lower otherwise you need to shorten shocks and spend on SPC adjustable arms etc etc.. stuff that!)...and I'm loving the car!... I can almost say that even when i throw the car into a corner hard... there's almost no body roll!.. Hope that helps in your decision... so i'm pretty happy with my purchase!... My only disappointment with Eurocode is that they don't make their Alu Kruiz for RHD cars... plus i never got a response back from them when i asked the questions.. i bought my bars from Phil at UPS Motorsport!

h&r here and very happy with them, im sure whatever brand anybody got will be part of their input ;-), either way the thicker the bar and the thinner the bar , its all up to you as far what you wanna give up or gain.

I didn't read the whole thread so apologies if this has already been posted.

The easiest way to avoid creaks from your sway bar bushings is to throw away the grease that comes with and wrap the spot that the bushings go around with teflon tape (what plumbers use). I learned this from a shop called Turn in Concepts...they are suspension gurus to the highest order and it has worked for me on a car that I had for 7 years with them on.

On the S4, I have the Eurocode front and rear, with stock endlinks :perfect fit and no noises, but I expect they will need regreasing once in a while, and I am sure the paint finish won't hold up (just a cosmetic issue).

I have H&R on wifes CC, perfect fit, no noises (and never have to re-grease because of Teflon lined bushings), better paint finish, but H&Rs tend to be less aggressive than other brands.
