    Manual DPF Cleaning B8 3.0L A4

    Hi Everyone.

I understand the DPF issue comes up a lot but I could anything really that describes what I want to do.

I have a 2008 3.0l A4. Its had a new engine put in by a previous owner. When I got the car it had the engine management light and flashing glow plug light on however was not down on power at all. Dpf laod was showing around 14g.

After some googling I had a scan done and it seemed to show that the sensor was faulty. I replaced the sensor but had some issues getting it to reset learned values. After fitting the new sensor I am also now really down on power / sluggish. The DPF load is showing around 63g. I also tried to force a regen but this would not start for safety reasons. I have tried driving at high revs to make it regen automatically but I am assuming the soot level is too high to do this. Pointing the old sensor back in did not bring full power back. These scans are shown below.

So I have come to the conclusion that my DPF must be well and truely blocked, enough so that a forced regen wont start. I have spoken to Audi and they want far to much money to just look at the car, before telling me exactly what I already know. I have been looking into DPF removal but there does not seem to be much around for the 3.0L and I am not really fond of the idea of removing it.

I have seen people talk about removing there DPF and physically cleaning it on a bench and then putting it back into the car to automatically regen its self. To me this seems like the easiest option and will save me some money.

So has anyone got a guide on how the remove the DPF on a 3.0L or know somebody that could give me some advise. I believe it to be the rather large thing behind the engine and it does look a right pain to remove. Sits right under the firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Another thing I have read that the ECU needs updating for a new dpf regen proceedure. Can I tell if this has been done through VagCom or just ring Audi?

    Thanks again

Below is first scan I had done on the car. (Before buying new sensor)

    Thanks for the reply.

However this just shows the steps for a rengeration however it would not start due to safety reasons. (Pushed down the pedals etc but just aborted straight away on screen)

I have know removed the filter from the car. Would of only been a couple of hour job if I knew what I doing but hey....

Hardly any soot at all. The back / exhaust end of the filter actually looks brand new, no soot at all. Still going to clean it after all of this effort but it looks like it must be a bad sensor somewhere else :/

Do the procedure of cleaning - around one hour and you will be OK :)
Security Access - 27971 (you have it in the instruction)

    Thanks for the reply.

I cannot do the steps for cleaning !! It will not start the process. Just says failed due to safety reasons??

DPF has been cleaned and put back on car just need to find the time to reset the sensor values and hopefully will be all back up and running.
