Overview on what I need for install.

I have an 04 A6 tiptronic with the immobilizer defeated. I'd like to pick up something like Viper's Smart Start System. Either the VSS4000 combo kit or the 5204 and the VSM200 module.

I've never done an alarm install where I MAY need to bypass the factory equipment.

Having the immobilizer defeated, SHOULD mean that I don't need to have a new key programmed.

I have no idea what I'm getting myself into, so I was looking for someone to give me an overview of what's required and I'll decide whether I just want to pay someone to do it, or tackle it myself.

I'm HOPEFULLY going to be installing a JBL MS8 and a couple of Alpine PDX amps as soon as the weather warms up or my in-laws get their sh!t our of my garage, so I'm not a stranger to wiring, I'm just new to complicated alarm bypass.

Alarms and remote starts are not that bad if you know what you are doing. I always recommend leaving them to pros. And I"m all for the do-it-yourselfer.
