    Passenger window, bein' a bitch!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My passenger window has worked perfect since I bought the car about 6-7 months ago. Today while I was running around my friend rolled the window down for a minute. Tried to roll it back up. and it didnt... rolled up about 2 inches then just went back down. because it was blizzarding outside I had to pull the window up while he held up on the switch. took about a minute but we got it all the way back up. Did some searching and it seems most people don't really like to help out much on this topic. But from What I've read it can be the window reg. Not really wanting to spend $100 on that is there anything else I should look into before I take the door panel off and get a closer look? Anything to look for specifically once I have the panel off?

    TIA

    Dayne

    Edit:

How likely is it that it just came off the track? Messing with it a bit more it seems that's all that has happened. It's like 0 degrees outside and its not looking like its going to warm up anytime soon so its probably going to be a week at least before I'm messing with this.

    Edit Again:

I just remembered a few days ago I had closed the door and it sounded different from the usual "thud!" tried opening and closing it a few more times and it seemed fine so I shrugged it off and the window hasnt been rolled up or down since then. I'm really starting to think it just came off the track.

Like said above.. there are green clips that hold the window to the arm attached to the regulator. usually if there are problems it's best to replace the whole assembly as something is misaligned and you'll be chasing it forever. I have a used assembly if interested pm me.

If it is not the clips that are mentioned above, then it could be the plastic rollers that holds the cable in place, open it up and report back. You can get the rollers from home depot if it is the case. Good luck

So I got around to pulling the panel off and I found that both plastic clips are cracked. Not "broken" but obviously cracked. This is what I found

    Before I buy these clips:

I just want to double check and make sure that these white clips are the same as the green ones and the ones I need.

EDIT: Sorry about blurry quality not to much help but whatever I guess. Just want to make sure those green clips are the same as the white ones on that link.

    RegulatorFix Dude (vtraudt) speaking:
    - I haven't found a manuf that makes the rear clips for the B5 (have B6/B7 rear in stock).
    - color of front: my original B5 front were green. Typically, the replacements are white, but color can change (and does not matter). For the B6 front (and C5 front for example), I have had orange, pink, blue, white, yellow production batches over the last 12 months. Material on all of those mentioned here is POM (very good coefficient of friction, low wear). SOME clips (some complex shape BMW) are made from ABS (a bit tougher/stronger, but NOT as good friction and wear). ABS clips are typically in the 'natural' color (beige/grayish).
