I used Continental TB Pro Series Kit when I did the TB changed. Continental includes Change Sticker in all their belt kits.

Bought this exact kit from Europa. Usually buy from another source that I'm definitely happy about, but I liked that Europa lists the parts and manufacturers and I know they are all quality and oem. Ordered on a monday, and it was at my house in CT on Tuesday, so fast I had to think about what I even ordered.

All in all the job on my b7a4 auto quattro 2.0t was definitely doable. started at 930, am with the bumper off already and finished and driving the car at 4. The kit I ordered as configured came with some extra parts that maybe I should have changed but ended up not doing. The crank belt, and crank/cam seals I didn't replace.

Would definitely recommend this kit, and will definitely shop with Europa again

I'm really having trouble understanding why you guys sell Audi/VW brand parts. I could just buy these from a dealership? WTF?!?

It's just the kit, or similar items, I believe. I just wondered the same thing when I placed 2 orders within the past week and the one with the TB kit had the free shipping.

check the typo on your website; in the big brake kit it states:
Your brake system is hands down the most important part of your vehicle. Faulty brake lines in addition to worn brake pads and rotors can drastically reduce your stopping distance which can lead to accidents.
(YOU MEANT "INCREASE" - Not "reduce" Having nice brakes reduces stopping distance. Having faulty brakes increases stopping distance, leading to accidents.* ) Or; reduce brake efficiency leading to increased stopping distance etc.

    cheers

Bought a Stage 3 b7 last night. First purchase, Thor skid plate (currently no stock pan) second purchase, this timing belt kit. I won't drive it again until I put this kit in. It's a 2005.5 with 100k and stage 3 for 15K, still on the stock belt.

I need to do this service and have a few questions about this kit (and yes I read through Phil's extensive DIY thread - good stuff).

I see that the accessory belt tensioner is listed under optional items. Is this a common wear failure part? Wasn't clear when reading through the other threads and most shops only replace the belt if you ask. Does the thermostat come with new o ring for hard line? Also, is a pulley holder tool really optional? I know marking the belts and pulley is wise, but how easily does the cam turn when taking off the belt and aligning the new one? Seems like good insurance to use a holder or cam lock. Lastly, does Audi spec the use of a belt tension gauge? Or does rotating the crank after replacing belt sufficiently tighten the belt to spec?

Thanks in advance for the help/insights.

Lastly, does Audi spec the use of a belt tension gauge? NO, when tensioner is adjusted properly (as according to Phil's DIY--) it will be at proper tension.

Thanks. I saw a few posts in that thread about the difficulty of removing coolant hoses. I did a flush at 50k and know my heater core hoses are seized to the metal pipes, so I couldn't flush the heater core or burp the system from there. Ended up burping it from the expansion tank instead. I assume my other hoses are similarly stuck. Do the t-stat hose get trashed in this install? And if the drain petcock is clogged (mine is), is it worth replacing during the service? I'm trying to figure out misc. parts I might need before digging in to the job. Looks like most of its in the kit minus the o ring and some tools (torx bits / triple square).

Thanks for the great write-up. I'm developing the courage to tackle this project during the Christmas break. My company basically shuts down between Christmas and New Year's Day. I'm taking the Fam to Tahoe after the new Year, and I'm hoping to have this done.

Thanks for the pics on the thermostat. My thermostat is basically stuck open, and the engine never gets above 80C when cruising. I will creep up to 100C in stop and go traffic. I'm sure I'm causing extra stress on the motor with repeated cool-down/warm-up cycles with large temp swings, not to mention getting less power and crappier gas mileage.

This will be the second timing belt job on this car. The first one, the dealer did it, but hosed me an extra $1000 over what they quoted me, for finding little bugs that didn't need fixing, but they fixed them anyway. Anyway, I'm nearly at 200k miles on just about original everything.

It also looks like that right side motor mount would be pretty easy to change out, while I got the front end apart. Seems to me the last time I changed it out, it was a major PITA to get that top bolt on and off with the stubby wrench. I think it literally took me half an hour each way, and I was developing major hand cramps in the process.

Anyway, I figure for $350 in parts and tools I can do this, and save myself around $1000 at least. Not bad for a day's work.
