Audi San Diego - Lifetime oil changes going bye-bye?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I purchased a new Audi from the Audi San Diego Dealership for my wife and I was offered the lifetime oil changes at time of purchase. Fast forward to the 15k service (the first one that isn't covered) and now they told me they weren't honoring that anymore. WTF? Anybody buy an Audi from Audi San Diego with get the lifetime oil change offer and have this happen? If so, What did you do? I planned on owning the vehicle for a long while, now I don't know what to do.

That's pretty crummy of them to do, but I wouldn't consider selling the car because you are now going to have spend $100.00 a year on oil changes.

Yes same thing here. There was a change of ownership not too long ago and the new owners aren't going for it. When I took my car in a few months ago they gave me a free oil change then and a coupon for one more free one along with a letter explaining why they aren't honoring it anymore.

Bring it to us. We'll save you money over the dealership. We can perform all the same maintenance and services that Audi San Diego does. We're just down the street from them. We also have factory Audi and VW trained mechanics on hand for expert help.

My a4 is over 10 years old. $180 an oil change [or whatever the dealership charges] adds up. I'll likely keep the car until it nears the end of warranty, but not sure I'd keep it much longer.

Do you guys have loaners? It's kinda tough to wait for a car during the week. If not how quick can you get us in/out. And how late are you open? Weekends?

We don't offer loans, but with appointments, we can do it while you wait. A basic oil change and inspection takes just under an hour.
We do oil changes on Saturdays also from 10-2pm by appointment.

Audi San Diego was previously Audi Miramar with different owners, it changed ownership and as with most business's when the owners change so do the programs. I can share that the acting GM is really a great guy and runs one of the best dealerships Ive seen. Although it still stinks, you bought your car from Miramar Audi and it no longer exists.
I would certainly say express your thoughts to the owner/GM, you might not get what you want but always good to share.
    Good luck....

Re: Audi San Diego - Lifetime oil changes going bye-bye?

AoA will probably reply that you purchased the service contract from an independent dealership not from Audi, etc., etc. There is probably also some fine print that the program can be discontinued at any time. Still, worth a letter to AoA and the new dealership GM. Sucks.

I'm no legal expert but it would depend if the new owners acquired the debts and obligations of the previous ownership.

You could take your business elsewhere. Seems pretty short sided to me that they would want to alienate previous customers!

My last trip to Audi of SD, their vehicle inspection said I had 4 failed CV boots that they wanted to replace @ 400 a pop. I didn't believe them since I had one of the axles replaced a few months earlier. Drove my car straight to PureMS, where they confirmed I had 2 bad boots not 4! Cost a fraction of the dealer and they had me in and out in no time.

Oh, and I was happy that I at least got a loaner from Audi, but it was a Toyota Tercel.

I wrote the service department a polite letter explaining my disappointing experience... never got a response.
