if it's those, they guy between two the door and the window assembly, they're held in place by the torx bolts, they're solely there for adjusting the position of the door so you're not left with a big gap between the car and the top of the door.

There should be two torx bolts on the side of the door that hold the door frame to the door itself. This shim usually goes between the frame and the door on the bottom. It's to help with fitting the door up and making sure the window seals seat properly.
