So I made a change I would have never thought I'd do.. My gauges are gone. I loved them dearly. The lights.. Oh the lights... They were the first thing people were like woweee what is that?! Now that I'm over that and care most about performance and maintaining that performance, I pulled the trigger on the PPD unit from STE.
First, Sean was a guy that I worked with back when I was remote flashing for VAST so I've known him for a few years at this point. He is a real good guy and this product that he worked on is really amazing how seamless the integration is. Installation is a bit tight, but, it does fit. Takes a little caressing like anything else done to our cars.
Over the past 7 years owning my car I've had the AWE gauge, then the newer AWE gauge, then a Podi (electrical then mechanical), then a VEI (which I loved the most) and now the PPD. I wasn't sure how I'd like it going from a gauge to it all in the cluster but after a spin with the car today I can't imagine it being any other way. You would think that Audi designed this thing.. It would have been part of some performance data package for 4k. Instead, it's $400 and worth every penny if you're serious into data on the fly without always logging.
Here's a shot of where I keep it, showing boost and AFR.
One click down shows me just boost, one up just AFR. After a WOT pull (can have both displayed like in my pic) I scroll back one to see what my boost profile looked like, aka where it peaked and and what RPM and what it tapered to and at what RPM. Then I can scroll to AFR and do the same.. Probably my favorite feature is that for the AFR because that is something that I've never logged before not having the extra Innovate components that allows you to do that.
Cycling through the other information shows me Oil and Coolant temp, then the "Begin Run" which allows you to do a 0-60 or FATS and have it spit back at you immediately after the run, and then the next is Speed and Intake Air Temp... So cool.
Just wanted to share!
