difference between plastic fog light lens and glass fog light lens?

my glass fog light lens shattered. i have been looking for replacements and noticed that vw/audi offers a glass version and a plastic version. does anyone know if there is some sort of association between the year of the car and the type of fog light? maybe early models came with plastic and late models came with glass? both seem to be oem. does anyone have any experience with both? i wonder if one has a better beam pattern. sorry if this was covered before. couldnt seem to find any information on this.

They are different part numbers, and actually if you take a look on the ecs website the red letters right underneath the item description say "for Valeo lighting" or "for AL lighting" check your foglamp and order the same one.

Sry. I should clarify. I'm aware that mine are glass. I plan to replace both, as the lens that isn't shattered has really bad pitting. I was just wondering if there is a difference between the two in terms of beam pattern, quality, etc

I don't think you have an option. If you look at the foglights from the front, they have different mounting brackets, I would stick to the glass ones if thats what your car came with.
