I own a 98.5 Audi a4 1.8tqa. I bought the car for a steal and found out that the turbo was bad. So I did a full k04 setup. FMIC,giac the works. I didn't want to go crazy power because of it being tiptronic. No CEL. So I ended up doing some other mods instead.... Here's comes the real stuff... I've been instreaded in the widebody a4... So I found a cheap set of universal fender flares. So I mocked them up and went with it. Why didn't I go with the rs4 widebody kit? I don't wanna spend 9k$ on a widebody wen I can do the same thing with a different aprouch. This costs me about 700$ and month to complete.
    Before
    After

Then I found a couple great DIY's on auto to manual swaps thanks to biketsai,walk-talky,papa_dios, so I'm in the process of the swap right now. Also I found out that I needed a new downpipe and while I was pulling the trans out I mind as well put top of the line stuff in. So I'm putting an fx400 clutch, awe LWFW,t3t4 full setup with um software and 3" turbo back exhaust with vband clamps the hole way thru. Here's some pictures o and every single thing I have done was by me myself and I, with the info from you guys...

    First batch of goodies..

I should be completed at the end of this month, I'm just waiting on parts to come in and time to take off to complete this.

I forgot to mention my newest upgrade... I'm doing an s4 front brake setup. S4 upright, calipers, carriers, rotors and an s4 3 spoke steering wheel all for ...300$ yea everything I just mentioned for 300$ and he's local... Now that is a deal. I'm looking for used s4 front axels they also bolt right up to the 5spd trans so it's great

You can find used OEM axles on part out threads on fourtitude, for starters. Then try ebay, car-part.com, and so forth.

    http://forums.fourtitude.com/forumdi...RS4-(B5)-Parts

But looks like you know what you want out of your car. Be sure to place forged rods somewhere on your "to do" list if you plan on chasing some power.

What do the universal fender flares look like? And how did you mold them into the body?

2 part process, 1st- To mold it onto the car I cut the actual fenders so I could put spacers on to make the tires come to the wider fenders... 2nd- then grinded factory fenders down to bare metal so the fenders stick to the flare. The actual process to mold them I took durglass and put that in between the fender and the flare and used 1/8 rivits to keep them in place. After they are one with the car I used bondo glass(hardens like metal) then used a couple lot coats of bondo. He's some pictures
    Mockup

I have s4 side skirts, I had to make a side skirt extention... My own creation, and it's out of cardboard.

Also did the inside of the doors

Wow, lots of great DIY action going on here. Excellent work.

Make sure you do some more research on your axles. 6MT axles won't bolt to a 5MT (inner flanges on a 6MT are 108mm vs 100mm on your 5MT quattro box), and the lengths will be wrong as well. What you want are B5 V6 5MT quattro axles, which are the same as 2001 B5 1.8T 5MT quattro axles. Those have the larger V6/S4/AWM outer CV's (for 82mm wheel bearing), with the smaller inner joints (100mm) for fitment to a quattro 5MT box. Axles that don't bolt up will wreck your day.

Yea so I didn't rub when I put the 20mm spacers on.
I don't have any pictures of the rear cut because at the time I was focused on measurements and cutting straight lines than pictures but I followed those lines

Well, I was wrong about the length issue perhaps, but the DIY you linked is for a 1.8T FWD car. The 1.8T FWD inner axle joints are 108mm (same as the S4 6MT). Your quattro inner joints are only 100mm. So unless you obtain the 108mm inner flanges (generally sold with the transmission), S4 axles are not going to work for you. You need B5 A4 V6 quattro front axles to make it happen.

I was too quite surprised to see what the outcome is after reading universal fender flares. Great work!
What is your suspension setup? Only reason I ask is that depending on the wheel and tire combo you might have some limitations with the rear of the vehicle going down without chewing up tires.(if you even intend to lower it) just a thought...

What is your suspension setup? Only reason I ask is that depending on the wheel and tire combo you might have some limitations with the rear of the vehicle going down without chewing up tires.(if you even intend to lower it) just a thought...
I have h&r racing springs on stock struts for awhile now with no issues at all. I'm gonna stay like that for alittle while longer. I don't scrap or have any rubbing at all. Wheels/tires... 18x9.5 rs4s, khumo 225/35/18

Nice!! I might have to steal those last few photos to put into my 5spd swap thread. I have a lot of people ask me what I mean when I say to grind it down flush using spacers.
