Need assistance from drivers in SoCal

I am reposting this as a general call for help in scouting roads and sharing photo locations.

1. Yes I am on all the forums and they all have some posts about fun roads to drive on.
2. Yes I am aware of the website that list roads that are fun as well.


I am attempting to build a website dedicated to drivers and the roads we love to drive. The site has LOOPS not just a listing of roads. Additionally I am trying to share locations to take pictures with your car or bike.

I plan to continue this project on my own but it will go faster with help from the community.


EXAMPLE of a completed loop with photo locations

Information I need please if you help:

Fuel stops (towns)
Food locations (if any good places to stop)
Road conditions (short description like "mixed pavement with some rough patches"
Short paragraph on the drive with some details

Would like to have - Photo stops on the drive to link to ad add to the photo locations page.
- Location
- Image of the car at the location

I think someone should maybe add "Push Pins" for typical CHP or speed traps, as well as typical times that the 5-0 are usually at those locations.

you should search this forum for the "drive" or "cruise" threads, which usually contain maps of the routes.

we basically have 4-5 areas: Malibu/Mulholland (LA) , Angeles crest (LA), Ortega highway (OC), Palomar (SD) ... I've only been to the Mullholland cruises, and a little bit of Silverado canyon in OC but it is mighty small and not quite loop worthy.

I can appreciate what you are trying to do but the best roads and loops will always be the ones that are never put in print. I'm just thankful that your NorCal list doesn't include even a single one of my favorite loops. I'd hate to imagine them crowded with weekend punters and tourists like Mulholland Highway and Angeles Crest can get.

These loops are know by most people in there area. As for crowded roads they are always hit or miss even with some of these.

My favorites in SoCal are the 330 & 18 to/from Big Bear and GMR...there are several more good ones not listed yet...
