Left parking bulb warning in display

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I searched and couldn't find the right answer.
So when the lights are in auto mode I continually get a left parking bulb warning.
I checked all the bulbs and none are out.
If I switch to off or on, no warning.

Check to see if the bulbs have the correct voltage and wattage on them. And clean the contacts really good.

I had a rear brake light bulb with an intermittent dash error icon. The bulb would light up. Turns out it must have been on the way out and the filament was able to make contact intermittently.

I finally just went and changed it and no more error.

Be careful...the books at Advance Autoparts were wrong - I bought without yanking it out first and had to make another trip. Yank it out first and make sure you get the right one.

    Hi all,

Just bought my first '06 B7 S4 on the 15th of this month (2 days ago) and I am having the same left parking bulb error, again on the auto setting, a quick off then on seems to alleviate it for a short while. The LH Xenon headlight will also flicker intermittently as well, not driven it enough at night yet to really gauge the seriousness of this.

    A) What is the easiest way to gain access to these things. I also have a 2010 A4 Avant and that's just a matter of slipping the headlight out - is it the same with the '06 S4?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Yeah the books are wrong when it comes to bulbs. Use the Phillips silvania website for the right numbers.

Yes, removing the headlamp will offer you access to all the bulbs. However, on a B7 you must remove the bumper to do this.

If you're getting the error, just replace both bulbs (L and R). This way the brightness will be equivalent, and you won't have to bother changing the other when it goes out in a bit. They come in two-packs anyways.

Mine did this also. I attempted to change them myself, but didn't want to go as far as to take the bumper off. Took it to the dealer last week and had them replace every bulb in each headlamp housing. Done.

The bumper is really not that bad to take off but the 2 body nuts on each side, which you have to reach with long extensions, can be easily dropped and lost forever.
But really just to change some bulbs?

The dealer said they didn't need to take the bumper off, but personally I could not find any way to get to the rear of the headlamp housing without doing so. I just didn't want to make the 60 mile trip to the dealer again. Hence, my justification for having them just replace every bulb; including the HID's. Had a dipped headlight warning as well. Lights and labor were just under $500 total. No problems since.

OK so I finally got sick of the warning and decided to tackle the bulb. I got a Sylvania 2825 2-pack from PepBoys for about $4. I got ready to take the bumper off and noticed an access door in the inboard side of the light assembly. It's slanted upward and round shaped. So with nothing to lose I took it off and whaddya know there's how you change the DRL and the parking bulb. It was a bit of contortion to get the holder out. Luckily its a non-turn snap-in style. The DRL is a turn type. I'm so happy I looked before removing the bumper.
