Question Is it possible to do a fwd to quattro conversion?

so i was just wondering, is it possible to convert my A3 2.0T from a FWD to a QUATTRO? i was just wondering cause i'd love my A3 in a quattro but i dont want to leave my A3 for a 3.2 quattro or change to a A4 2.0T quattro. would it even be worth it if it is possible?
    some feedback would help :)

    yeah...trade it in for one.

Seriously, not possible, since the underside of the chassis is different to accommodate the drivetrain.

Plus the cost to convert it would be ridiculous.

    Check out this thread:

It's on a Mk5, but same info applies to the A3. You'd need transmission with rear driveshaft output, Haldex diff, entire rear subframe from AWD car, new gas tank and 2nd fuel pump, weld in rear floor pan from quattro A3, new downpipe, wiring and coding to get everything working, and plenty of odds and ends I'm not thinking of. I hate to be one of those guys (because I'm all for unique projects and custom work) but you may as well sell it and pay the difference to get one that came with quattro. Even if you buy everything secondhand and do all if the work yourself, you've got to be looking at $5k+

I have no doubt it is. Seen it done once on a MKIV TDI Jetta so it must be possible on an A3... but the only reason it was feasible for the guy with the Jetta to do it was because he had the entire drivetrain from a R32 lying around his shop... otherwise it would really be cheaper to just trade up to a newer Quattro and swap a manual tranny conversion into it.

The conversion was done this year (phase 2 of the project).
It's a lot of work and money to be spent..

yea thats too much work. 5+ but im thinking towards 10k+ for parts and labor.

you can sell a 06 a3 for 13K+10k then u get 23k tack on a few more thousand and u can get a 2009+ quattro with a better engine and OEM with warranty
