Audi a4 steering controls and airbag problem

    Hi people

I did got myself an audi A4 (b8) a few months ago, and I have a few problems.
the 1 st one is on the steering wheel, the controls for the audio don't work and they don't light up.
the 2 nd problem it's with the warning light for the airbag being on all the time.
I have been informed that this may be related to a fault on the clock sprig .
does anyone had the same problem? or have any suggestions before I take the car to the stealer!
    thanks.

Sounds like the airbag harness isn't connected to the steering column (or there is something wrong with its connection). The steering wheel controls plug into the airbag harness, and there is a single plug that connects the steering wheel controls and airbag to the steering column. Does your horn work?

yes the worn works, only the audio control doesn't work and airbag light on.
i had a look on the fuses and they are all ok.
If someone had removed the steering would this cause the controls not to work?
I’ll it need to be reconnected with the vag-com cable to work again?

    thanks.

    Hi

I have sorted the airbag problem with a new steering angle sensor, got one from ebay in 2nd hand with cruise control stalks for around 90£, (very good price for all the parts).
only today have managed to fit all parts and did all the coding.
the airbag problem its sorted, cruise control it's working, only the controls for the audio are not working they light up now but don't work, i think something needs to be done to get the controls to communicate with the mmi.
if some one know please post here.

Maybe I can find some help in here...

Having a little trouble with my 2009 A4 Avant non S-line. I bought a secondhand 2011 S4 steering wheel with with airbag which the owner said was removed from his car with under 1000 miles in place of an R8 wheel. I've removed the 4-spoke A4 wheel, and replaced it with the S4 wheel. I used the same harness (yellow & orange connector) from my A4 - Everything plugs in properly with no issues. The horn works fine.

I'm not getting any codes, but only the right side of the steering wheel controls (Volume & Talk) are lighting up and working. The + shift paddle is also lit up, but haven't VAG-COM'd it yet to activate. The left side (MODE, scroller, and - shift paddle) is not lighting up at all, and the buttons don't function. No airbag codes, although it was a little strange seeing the 09 A4 4-spoke airbag has a pop-up orange connector, whereas the S4 airbag has a flush-mounted orange connector - any reason for this?

From what I've read, the harness should work with both wheels/airbags - Is this not the case? I haven't taken it back apart yet, but will plan to tomorrow.

    Thanks in advance!
