Pretty sure I cracked a piston ring land. Time to stop using 4032 pistons and put real pistons in for the job ;-)

Yea at your power level/ci probably time for a 2618 piston even if the wear is not as good. You sure are making some jam though :)

Why did you decided to go Loba cams over something more aggressive as I remember you weren't that impressed of their performance at first? I can't decide are they worth (performance-wise) over 2.8 cams?

I was originally talking to Web Cams about some regrinds. We went through all their options and picked what looked good.
When all was said and done the best specs were pretty much spot on with the LOBA cams...
At that point it was a Web regrinds vs a Brand New blank on a LOBA set. I decided I trust a new blank a lot more!
Plus LOBA has a lot more experience with the market, plus rumor has it that Quattro themselves helped with them...

What characteristics were you after when you went through different cam specs and ended up with same as loba?

I'm trying to educate myself to understand how the car would perform (hp/tq curve) with CAT vs LOBA cams. Specs between those two is quite different.

So I called Precision last week... got an RGA number for my turbo.
They said they were about 3 weeks behind on repairs right now... figured no big deal.
They got my turbo Friday, and called me today and got it out the door to me today.
    Hows THAT for service?

Longer stroke raises compression ratio. Normally that means you need more dish in the piston to get CR back to reasonable numbers. But E85 allows you to run ridiculously high CRs *and* boost. Some of the turbobricks guys are running as high as 12:1, so I guess I'm surprised too.

    Was a joke

Longer stroke doesnt necessarily raise the compression ratio either FYI. It would depend on the height/design of the piston the coorelates with the extended stroke.

The 2.7 is out of the S4 that's about it... lol

I've been super crazy busy getting ready for the Performance Racing Industry trade show next week...
I'm going to be machining a cylinder head from Billet Aluminum at the show.
Here's some pics of my work on getting ready for it:

    First we start with a 35" x 8" x 6" piece of aluminum...

Then we take a chisel and knock some meat off it... lol

    Mmmmm shiney....

Then we take a dremel... lol

    Poke some holes in it...

Stroke doesn't raise compression as it's factored into the piston height.
The dish is actually a lot deeper on stock pistons...
9:1 83mm pistons have about 6ccs in the piston dish, these 10:1 have about 3.3cc.

But between the work I'll be doing to the heads etc it's hard to say what the exact final compression ratio will be. But it will be around 10:1.

I was referring to the fact that if the volume at TDC remains the same with the stroker setup, the CR increases due to greater volume at BDC.

Looking forward to seeing how the extra compression helps you spool that big ass turbo!
