I forgot about the piston rings!!!! could be the piston rings holding it together......I'd say it's a collaborative effort of the walls, wrist pin and rings

Totally cracked in half. Held together by the rings lol.

It's not detonation. E85 doesn't detonate.

Weak piston from contact with a valve in its past life + stupid high cylinder pressure from muchos power = breakage.

But 4032 pistons just can't take power this high. Simple as that.
2618 pistons or go home.

Do you check every tank for ethanol content? I know it can vary wildly.

Yepp. Checked often. Spot on 85%.

And trust me you'll break pistons most of thr time from pure cylinder pressure before you detonate on E. That guy had "knock" after the piston broke though lol

So since I'm going with tubular manifolds with v-bands on the 3.0 and a T4 turbo I might sell my up pipe and 2.8 manifolds rather than hack the up pipe if anyone is interested in it.

Its just hard to find the juicy info that I want in a 100 page thread. I think you should start a new thread detailing the current parts, add a little summary listing previous upgrades and failures in a sort of timeline format. This would be much more useful to people that don't have 6.5 hours to read through this thread that's probably 50 pages of fluff as my old English teacher would say ;)

Yeahbutt it was an enjoyable 6.5 hours for the most part. In fact it was the most consistently civil, entertaining and educational 100 page thread I've ever seen on an online forum.
