    Angry MORR Wheels ... 2 months, 21 days ... and counting ...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone EVER had to wait 3 months for wheels!!?

Every email I sent I get the same answer "We had issues with X, They will arrive this Friday" ... then another week passes by. What really pisses me off is that I HAVE TO REQUEST updates ... They wont even call or send an email ...

By far the worst company I ever had to deal with. I am about to post complaint to every freaking organization I can think of.

    Here is the email history:

Order placed on Jun 18th. Order Confirmation # 166.

    Email 1: August 9th
Me: “Any update? 2 more weeks have passed ... “
MORR: …”We actually requested an update to Andy at MORR this morning, we’ll let you know!” from Matt @ [email protected]
MORR: (August 13th) … “Give me till tomorrow to speak to production so I can get you a solid update.” From Chris @ [email protected]

    Email 2: August 14th
    Me: “Chris?”

    Email 3: August 15th
Me: “MORR representatives ... What is the status of my order!? 2 months have passed! It was supposed to be 2-3 weeks! If I have to send one more email in few days I will pursue legal action and
contact BBB. This is becoming an absolute disaster of a purchase!”
MORR: …”Your wheels will be machined on the 16th, sent to finish on the 20th and be ready to ship to our Miami facility by the 21st” .” From Chris @ [email protected]
Me: “Chris, Please put yourself on my place. 2 months and I get today an answer that gives me a date. 2 months! I was told MORR had the 18" and will get it in production the same week (2 months
    ago)?
Yes you are trying to help me but kinda too late. Don't get me wrong I appreciate your help ... but after so much time with me initiating the status updates etc I am already way too disappointed with the whole purchase ... “

    Email 4: August 22nd
Me: “Good Morning Chris,As per your last email ... are the wheels ready to ship/schedule pickup?”
MORR: “Your wheels are machined and at finishing currently. I am hoping to have them back by Monday the latest to ship via ground freight to out Miami facility. Our powder guy was backed up hence the delay. I’ll see if I can get you some pictures to ease the pain a
bit.” From Chris @ [email protected]

    Email 5: August 30th
Me: “Chris, Another weeks is almost over ... ware the wheels shipped?”
MORR: “They leave between tomorrow and Monday, shouldn’t take any more than a few days to arrive. I’m hoping you can pick them up from our location by the end of next week.” From Chris @ [email protected]

    Email 6: September 7th
Me: “Another week have passed. Total time since I placed the order is: 2 months and 20 days. Interesting fact: I got my WHOLE B8 S4 Build and delivered from the other side of the world for 2 months and 15 days ... anyway ... again I am the one asking for an update ...
Where are the wheels and when I can pick them up?”
MORR: - No reply … I called them today … they said the wheels tentatively will arrive by Friday!!!

    UPDATE: (9/15/2012)

So the last week was spend hunting contact information for MORR executives and after I found the phone number of Andy (left a message - never got a call back) I found the email of the FOUNDER of MORR, Carlos ... Boy was he "pleasure" to cominucate with ... let me give you an idea ...

    Carlos:

"Sorry I couldn't reply yesterday, was caught up with a few things.

Your wheels are in. When would you like to pick them up?

I can sit here and try to explain why it too so long to deliver but at this point I don't think that's important. What's important right now is that you get your wheels and we take care of this for you at the earliest. I do, however, have to apologize for taking so long to delivery them as I know we promised a much shorter production time. For that, my sincerest apologies.

Allow me to offer you a free professional photoshoot of your car for all this inconvenience.

Hope to hear back from you shortly."

    Me:

    "Carlos,

What are my options for picking them up? Can I pick them up tomorrow or the day after (Sunday)?

As far as the photo shoot goes I guess I will have to schedule this at some point later on. I would like to get the wheels and make sure that they are perfect first. For that amount of time I sure hope they are.

    Thanks for your reply."

    Carlos:

    "Illian

We are closed on the weekends. What day is best during the week?"

    Me:

I work till 6pm during the week. I am about 1h and 30 mins from you (assuming your office is @ Doral) so not sure how viable that option is since I will be @ Doral around 7-8pm. Would there be anyone there?

If not I guess we have to talk about shipping them to me.

    BTW:

This is from an email I sent on June 16th:

"Hi I am placing an order of 19x9 VS 8.2 through the Campioni Shop and I had few questions:

    1. They mentioned that I can pick the wheels from you guys but I need to know your working hours and if you work (or I can pick the wheels) on Saturday."

The reply I got from Chris on June 19th was:

"Ilian, You can most definitely pick up the wheels from us."

I guess either he forgot to mention that Saturday does not work for you guys or he missed my question ...

    Thanks.

    Carlos:

"We are located in Miramar. We close around 6-7. If necessary, we can ship the wheels to you."

    Me:

"I would prefer to pick them up. I would hate something to get damaged during shipment and make this even worse experience than it already has been.

Can you please give me the address and I will be there no later than 6:30 on Monday the 17th.

Also if something is wrong with the wheels (Audi caps don't fit, wrong specs etc.) what is the policy and will the wait time be similar to what I already experienced?

    Thanks."

    Carlos:

    "Monday 6:30 is fine.

We have policies established for things like that. Regarding the caps, our wheels only fit our center caps."

    Me:

    Carlos,

I asked 2 times on the phone when ordering the wheels and both times I was assured that you guys can manufacture the wheels to accept the Audi caps! So now after 3 months wait you tell me that this is not the case?
With what else I have to compromise Carlos? And for what for a photo shoot?

    Your Miramar address please?

Also where can I find the policies you mention. I would also want to know if you have a policy which covers me canceling the wheels and getting my money back?

    Me (again):

    FYI:

From Campioni @ Audizine forums private message:

    "Hey,

That is brushed and is an extra $400 for a set. It is really a superb finish though and is the most popular finish on all our forged wheels at the moment.

We can machine the center caps to accept your Audi center caps as well. They will work perfectly with the 255/35/19 tires as on your Ti wheels."

Attached is a screenshot as well from the conversation ...

Carlos has not replied yet ...

So long story short ... 3 Months waiting for wheels and I get this customer service and not what I asked for :)

    UPDATE: (9/19/2012)

Things changed in the beginning of this week in much more positive way ...

Long story short they will fix the Audi caps issue as well as work with me to make up for all of what happen. I met with them personally and discussed the case yesterday.

Thanks guys for your interest and support.

wow, almost 3 months for a set of wheels. That's a bit too long. I would have personally cancelled the order. Of course, that depends how much you really want the wheels. But paying what one pays for MORR wheels, I think there's a lack of professionalism on their part. Especially when they ground shipped the wheels. Come ON! Really? If they know they're late to deliver, the least they can do is expedite the shipping.

Lack of professionalism is a VERY nice way to describe it. They act like it is absolutely normal to go through this and wait as much as I have.

my Forgestar's were supposed to be 6 weeks, they took 11....but that's pretty standard from what I've read on those wheels. It sucked, but so worth it when i got them. your situation is a little different because the lead-time was supposed to be pretty short, but hang in there...you will forget all about it when you see them on the car for the first time :)

Wow....very unprofessional. One would think at a minimum they could at least expedite the method of shipping.

Thanks for posting this, I was just about to pull the trigger on a set but given your experience I'll pass.

Good luck with this, hope they arrive one day.

I think mine took about 3 months from order to delivery...but I was expecting that for custom wheels with a custom finish. Matt's communication was OK, but I was always the one initiating contact.

I guess with MORR 3 months is the norm then... The HREs does not look expensive now at all...

custom forged wheels usually have a long wait associated with them.

the wait time isn't that absurd for custom wheels, IMHO. what gets me is the lack of communication and the fact that when they did update you (after you had initiated it), it came off as 'information' just to shut you up, which is inexcusable.

i hope you get your wheels soon..

Pretty normal with a lot of custom wheels (I had similar issues with iForged a while back). I was choosing between Morr and BC Forged custom wheels this go around. I went BC Forged and got them in about 4 weeks. Glad I did now. I was prepared to stay away from custom wheels based on my previous experience, but I can't recommend BC Forged wheels and Sonic Tuning enough.

I'm experiencing a similar situation. Forgestar order placed July 16th. Was told, wait was " two to three weeks." Based on jfabes' response I now know it'll be another 4-5 weeks...grrrrr. I suppose the companies are telling us what we want to hear, then once we're on the hook...we wait rather than reorder with someone else.

On the flip side, my AWE exhaust was quoted as a seven week wait and it arrived in six! Great job AWE!

I know with some Volk rims (japanese brand), you might have to wait 6 months depending on the specs you need since they come over on a boat from Japan...

I waited almost around the same time maybe minus a couple weeks for my wheels. I'm glad I ordered them as soon as I got my car. Totally improved the look of my S4.

The main thing is that they set your expectation pretty high. If they told you it would have taken 8-10 weeks from the start, you probably would have been as pissed.

I deal with this kind of thing at work all the time. It's better to overestimate your time than to underestimate. If you save yourself time and do it faster, the customer is happier because you finished early.

I was told to expect my wheels 6-8 weeks, but it ended up being about 10, as there were some delays, but since they were custom finish/offset/style, I just figured it might take that long.

Guys I understand quite well that the wait is somewhat expected for such wheels. However what is not expected is the way the situation was handled from a shop which considers itself a high end luxury “brand”. Their wheels are not exactly cheap nor their marketing. If you pay 50K for a car and you wait 3 months to get it … this is somewhat OK, asking every week for an update for wheels which take more than 3 months and being lied to is not. Also do not miss the fact that I was told it would only take 2-4 weeks since the 8.5 ware in stock and they will get in production “right away”.

What is even more interesting is that a good member of the forum has ordered his after me … in 9. They DELIVERED his … he returned them … they DELIVEDRED his 2nd set yesterday . Yet mine which was supposed to be a “quick” are still … shipping.

Anyway … I do not want to cancel yet. I waited that long anyway … but it is disappointing to say the least when you have somewhat of a high expectations. I will lover them going forward when it comes to high end wheels I guess.

I waited 7 weeks for my wheels. It felt so long that I lost interest and regretted ordering. When they finally arrived...the excitement returned! No regrets. It's worth the wait!

    Me (again):

So long story short ... 3 Months waiting for wheels and I get this customer service and not what I asked for :)
I would want a refund and order from another company.

MHT took 13.5 weeks for my custom forged and one came in with damage on the dish so another 5 weeks for that and 1 more week to fix it. Then another 4 days for the longer bolts. So 20+ weeks from time of order till they were mounted. Had em on 3.5 weeks before came off and winters went on. Trust me when I saw I fell your pain.

:) The wait time is not the biggest problem ... it PLUS the customer service PLUS the fact that I do not get what I ordered is the problem. Also the fact that you can wait 7 months for wheels is ... well I will skip my comment.

As much as I feel your pain, there are way too many companies like this now. I ordered a set of wheels from a pretty large and reputable vendor (not Tirerack), it took six months to get them. Same as you I had to do all the chasing, they never provided an update without being asked. I had problems with the fitment and vibration issues and ended up returning the wheels for a different brand. That took another 8 weeks. On top of that they owed me a credit for a price difference in the wheels. That took another 6 weeks. It was a joke from beginning to end. I must have called them over 60-70 times not including emails.

These companies are ruining the mod business. Going beyond made to order wheels, NOBODY carries inventory anymore. Everything is made to order, when they get around it. Now I only buy wheels from Tirerack, their selection is not the greatest but they carry BBS which I use almost exclusively and the company is run by grown ups...

Custom wheels do take a long time.. However, they promised him a much SHORTER time. If they said 12 weeks+ from the beginning it wouldn't be a problem right now but they didn't. And it's pretty funny that he's offering you a photoshoot when that will help his business more than anything else lol... A photoshoot is much more beneficial to him.. Such bull shit...

Who the hell is "MORR" anyway? Never heard of them. Though, if anything, this is why one shouldn't buy from "distributors" and should deal with the wheel manufacturer directly - and stick to reputable, well known companies.

I am definitely sorry to hear about your troubles, OP. Sucks you took a gamble with this and haven't seen a result.

That's utterly insane. anything over 8 to 9 weeks is absolutely ludicrous barring special circumstances.

Unless if I'm mistaken, MORR is the direct wheel manufacturer that the OP is dealing with.

Sorry to hear of the pain it has been to get these wheels. Hopefully they will be perfect on pickup.

I think he was also asking who Morr was as a company. If so....

They are a custom wheel company that has mostly been involved in the BMW scene for the last 4-5 years. They only do 2-3 styles of monoforged (1-piece wheels), and a few more 3-piece wheels. People seem to like the product and prices on the BMW forums. Customer service has always been questionable or a little suspect. Seems pretty normal for South Florida custom wheel companies, or most custom wheel companies in general. I have dealt with several with similar results. The fact is, unless you are a really big company, making custom wheels takes time in most cases. Deal with HRE, or one of the old school Fiske or CCW type companies, if you don't want the run around. You'll pay the price though. I will add one disclaimer in that I had great results with BC Forged custom wheels in terms of price, service, and quality. They just don't have the history some of the other companies have.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Never heard of them.

I just bought a set of DPEs myself and I got them in 8 weeks, fully custom. They kept me informed every step of the way and their customer service was outstanding.

    Update:

Things changed in the beginning of this week in much more positive way ...

Long story short they will fix the Audi caps issue as well as work with me to make up for all of what happen. I met with them personally and discussed the case yesterday.

Thanks guys for your interest and support.
