Yes but you will most likely have to replace your radio unit as well. As where 2011 and up seem to be 100% safe.

Your system should tell you if component protection is active. Did you run a VCDS scan?

also, once you've determined whether you are in protection or not, can you let me know if you get sound from am/fm and sirius? I was able to get as far as getting the am/fm to work, but not sirius.

OK I got the "4G0 035 082B" 14.06.2011 radio in but need the svm code to take protection off...

Went to Schaumburg Audi and they were more than helpful on all of it but AOA and the TAC support guys that they submitted a ticket to would not give us a SVM code for the new radio since it did not match the part that goes to that VIN exactly. So now I am stuck with finding a SVM for my "4G0 035 082B" 14.06.2011 dated 6/14/2011 software Radio unit to have protection removed...

How can I get a SVM code to remove protection if Audi and Dealer will not give one out. they say if I had bought the unit new from the dealer I would get a SVM code to activate it in the 2010 A4. But I bought it on ebay for $400 vs $1300 at the dealer.

So does anyone know where we can get a SVM code for the "4G0 035 082B" 14.06.2011

So the other thing I found online was this but not sure if this would release protection or not? Seems like this would just be a upgrade SVM code...

The SVM code for Audi maintenance shop upgrade to Radio Concert (Symphony too maybe?) upgrade to 0310 SW and SDHC compatibility is:

SVM: B856A001

I've installed two diff radio modules in my car and had protection successfully removed from both without SVM codes. They need to manually remove component protection and not go through the automated procedure using SVM. The only other thing I can suggest is that it's coded the way it should be before you go to the dealer to have protection removed.

Your right Cory...I seem to remember that they did the protection removal manually on the MMI Plus unit last time too...I should find another tech to use...the one I had was good but did not know how to do it manually.

I will be either going back and doing it there or go to another dealer....

Alright I got the protection removed manually and the Fault that now comes up in 5F is "00822 Connection between DSP and Radio no signal/communication". Regis at Schaumburg Audi here in Chicagoland area and I tried several times to do the adaption and all the settings took each time... but still no sound and each time we got the same fault above? Protection was able to be removed... We think the Radio might be bad I got on Ebay from Turkey...LOL...

Can you or David possible source a radio that might actually work?

Thanks... i am fairly certain is that for 3g+ only... dont think it will work on standard 3g systems.

Hello guys,

After reading all 11 pages im impressed with the davids work, youve skilled man and you inspiered many others to do so, including me. However i have few questions which i cant understand and if someone can clear me out before i step into this holy grail of update. As you may see im from Europe and my drive is Audi A4 B8 2.0 tdi (sept 2010) , i have color board display and mmi (dont have nav/phone installed) , also my audio controll buttons are on the board (above ac unit) .
So my question is , im mainly interested to retro fit central console with buttons functionally working of course,
Is this possible to do it and if yes do i need to change my radio unit too (if yes i need to order what exactly?) if all this is doable, then i will
take a look if i can change that display too.

If some of you guys can help me on this one i would be really greatful because im trying to find an answer allover , but cant manage to get a proper answer!

I have a 2010 Audi S5 and am looking to upgrade to an mmi 3g plus retrofit as recommended by one of the Audi mechanics in order to get Bluetooth and Wifi capabilities in my car. I've read through all the posts and have looked extensively online but cannot find where to buy the unit. Can someone please make any recommendations or point me in the right direction.

Well ill try to reply you what ive understood so far since i have A4 b8 2010 and i think we share same base.
Do you have buttons beside gearbox or above the ac unit?

And i think changing only the screen wont be enough to to enable wifi and other options David did.

Any way you two can help me figure out what to do with a radio now. I have the 8G0 035 082B from Ebay and I have now had two different dealers test it out to go into my 2010 A4 with Protection removed and I still get the same error? I also had the radio itself put in another A4 2011 and the radio works. So I am bringing it to the table with you all to help me figure out if I have to go to the C, D or E version of the 8G0 035 082 radio...

I venture that the 2013 MMI Plus needs a 2013 Radio from all of my testing now for two weeks and 40 hours of work....but I wanted your opinion...please respond with something I can do ...

I am doing a retrofit from a radio Concert to a MMI 3G+ Audi S4 B8 2010
I am waiting to receive all parts before to dismantle the entire car :)
Searching on the web or ETKA desesperatly for the case where is fitted the cd charger in the glove box.
Someone can give me the part n° ? or I must change the entire glove box ?

Hey guys,
I'm new here and new to Audi, but have been reading up on all the incredible work you guys have achieved.
I have an Audi MY2010 with an MMI basic with Concert radio and live in Australia.

I don't think I really need the 3g + upgrade but wouldn't mind trying to get any type of Nav upgrade. My system doesn't seem to have the MOST fibre optic interface so I figure even a 2G nav upgrade would be very involved for that reason.
Am I right or can someone give me some idea of what's involved? I also don't suppose that with all these upgrades happening that there are any RHD 2G Nav systems that anyone wants to sell? Otherwise can anyone point to some good sources? I've checked out some of the ebay stores linked, but they are mostly in German.

The retrofit is possible, but it probably would be easier to buy a new car...

I have retrofitted a mmi 3g plus on my s4 previously equipped with a radio concert. All its working fine. The main unit has no SIM card slot. So I would know if it's possible to have Google earth via the Bluetooth Rsap phone connection. I have no phone prep.

The hardest part from my point of view was to find the appropriate coding for the climate control to display the information on the MMI. And the menu setup on the green menu. I have found many usefull informations on germans forums (thanks google translate)
Sure i was expensive but i regret nothing. This system is very well thinked and ergonomic. I love it.

MMI 3G Plus Main-Unit: 8R1 035 746 A or B
MMI-Controls: 8T0 919 611 C WFX (with Start/Stop button) or 8T0 919 611 B WFX (without Start/Stop button)
HD/Sirius Radio-Unit: 4G0 035 082
CAN Gateway: 8T0 907 468 AA (if anyone is wondering what I have in the car)

Work great together, with no radio cut-outs.

The upgrade is really worth the hassle as I notice the DSP in the MMI 3G+ units with B&O system is much better compared to the MMI 3G. No annoying resonances from the built-in subwoofer in the back of the car.

Not to mention the A2DP streaming with Bluetooth, HD Radio and Google Maps.

I haven't got the data and telephone connection in setting menu.
I look in green menu, settings and VCDS and I can not activate SIM card and WLAN

I read all 11 pages of this thread. There are about 20 requests for a parts list of what is needed to upgrade from a 3G to 3G Plus. Can anyone help?

In the last picture of the controls that you ordered...These controls are different than mine. The buttons on mine are black, but I think I like these silver or aluminum ones better. Are these a different part number? Do they make them in other variations as well?

A brief history. I ordered a new MMI, controls and radio to attempt a retro fit. Now before the parts even shipped I got word that I may be ok with the current radio and AMP even though they are different part numbers.

Now I've had a spare MMI unit on my shelf for about 6 months now. I thought it was an original 3G plus unit from Europe that was released in small numbers when the 3G was first released. I believed it was the European holy grail that supported phone SIM and bluetooth.

Well I couldn't be more wrong. With my car in protection right now due to a glitch in the system I figured no harm in putting the European unit in for testing. At the very least see how the NAV would handle a different continent.

Well low and behold, this entire time my Hybrid Q5 European module was actually a US unit!!.. So whats with that SIM card slot and phone antenna aerial connection... GOOGLE MAPS!!

So beleive it or not, plug and play. A couple of my MMI control buttons are wrong but all in all it works. Not sure if rewiring would fix that but I doubt it.

So I was in awe... Couldn't believe it. Ran inside and grabbed a sim card and started capturing images. I managed to convert the unit to A4 instead of Hybrid Q5 and enabled a few things. I only spent 20 minutes on it so lots of settings to sort out but it seems to work perfect.

I do have protection going on in my car right now so my radio cuts out ever few seconds but that's expected just like my CD changer. So lots of testing and playing to go but my parking camera and on screen sensor display works no problem. I can adjust all the normal settings you would expect.. Here are some pics from the unit in my car with nothing more than swapping the head unit.

Secret menu worked with me enabling it. Odd.

OK so a little more playing before I get some sleep.

It seems you can use a SIM card with a data plan to get online. Problem is my phone antenna isn't hooked up yet so it gets no signal. Some neat finds though. With a SIM in the car you can share a data connection with other devices. The MMI had a built in wireless access point.

I was also able to stream Audio via bluetooth to the unit and actually play music without it cutting out due to the protection on my radio. All very cool. Slowly figuring this out.

You can enable and change the wireless access point. I left most default for testing and I could connect my ipod to the wireless connection.
