    Sunday festivities

Preped and painted my crash bar and installed the infamous RS4 grille. With CHROME TRIM!!

Took off the OEM chrome price and swapped it with the silver that it came with. Was a bitch to do and my fingers were not happy.

I don't think you'll be able to do it without doing it with multiple pieces. The vinyl won't want to "turn" that much... that only way to do it in one piece is to do it with a big sheet, IMO.

BTW I failed at attempting to wrap my surround(with the same thing), ended up painting it. The seems just weren't perfect enough for me...

^ ^nice, did the same to mine, except no filler plate so just the top 3 and the bottom 1, and also did it to the middle 'blade' on the fog grilles. and yea bought a $14 roll of the stuff from autozone, looks perfect and is actually more durable and stays on real strong.

Last week I put the new M-Plop RS4 Grille in:

And today I finally found some spray paint I liked to get my black rings to match the new alu-optic trim look edge of the new grille:

And the resulting drying rings look like this:

The match appears excellen to to me in person. The paint has a bit of "metalic flake" to it, but not much at all IMHO, which made me happy. I'm really not a huge chrome fan (I gloss black wrapped my window trim) on the outside of my car, and much prefer an aluminum look. Tomorrow when the rings are dry and it is sunny again I'll post final pics on the street here.

as said here, unfortunatly you will need a piece of vinyl that will cover the whole grille and work it it to the corners etc...a little patience and you'll get it perfect :) mine looks like it came like that from factory.

Hey Highlander, that looks great! Does it match the brushed aluminum look of the outer trim on the RS4 grill? I need to re-do my mirror caps and I'm looking for different paint because the one I used can't be used with clear coat because it turns it yellow for some reason.

lol same issue i had, but i was trying it on my exhaust tips, wanted to see if i could get a nice matte alu look and used some rustoleum metallic paint, but once i put this gloss clear coat over it it turned nasty yellow brown looking, just used some goo off to get the paint off and left em chrome, looks better anyway.

So far so good. Finished the 2nd coat of clear today, dried and put on the car. I found a rear set on eBay (since I already did mine black) and will try to make them this alu look too. Then I'm thinking about masking off the small fin on my rear valence a la the S4 and doing that as well. I'm going to stop short of the mirror housings though. I think it would work, but wonder about durability. I think I might have my body shop do the mirrors if I choose that later.

Now that my wife is back with the Nikon DSLR I'll try to take some sunny pics this week to show the final results.

BTW I failed at attempting to wrap my surround(with the same thing), ended up painting it. The seems just weren't perfect enough for me...
I wrapped the trim today with the 3"roll and it worked out well. Using the hair dryer to soften the vinyl helps it to go around the curves.
