So it's off, how would I correct this through the eeprom? Is it possible to just get another S4 cluster and do the adaptations to get it to work?

Modding the cluster eeprom takes specialized $1,000 software. If you contact mpower on the board he can do the modification for a reasonable price, but it will require shipping him your cluster.

MPOWER did the color DIS mod for me last year. He had a cluster that worked in my 03 A4, and I flipped him a color DIS I had that would not work in my model that I had purchased off ebay. Makes the RNS-E much more functional. Great guy, nice to meet him. He's in the Chicago area and will meet up with you in person.
