Where did you buy and have your windshield installed? I think it's time I get a new one, but I was a little weary on going to the dealer.

Wish it was known way back when I cleared my headlights that the S4 units didn't require drilling. Oh well, they're no more noticeable than not drilling.
Thank you man that means a lot coming from you haha its getting there and then I can start the more power part, for my windshield I have a friend that works for a glass repair company so I called him up to get me one and put it in, he has a little shop at his house down the road from me, it cost me 150 for everything, 100 for the glass and then 50 for him to put it in. For the headlight I didnt know that you didnt have to drill either until I saw it done on here thats why I havent done it until now.

I was going to do this at first too... and then I got distracted by shiny go-fast parts. At least I got some cosmetic stuff done before I got all ADD: S4 blades, Votex Sideskirts, 18x9.5" AMG wheels, S4 spoiler/lip, USP lower valence.

Whenever I pull my motor I'm going to do a complete respray; changing the color from black to some sort of gunmetal/dark grey metallic. Then find a front lip or splitter for the USP lower. Aesthetic mods cost a ton. Working on the way your car looks can cost about as much as doing a small build on your motor... craziness.

When I pull the motor I am either swapping it out for a 2.7 or maybe ill go different and do a tdi, or I will just bore my 1.8t to a 2.0 . I added journal to my page because I know it wouldnt be a build thread for awhile while I research and start gathering parts.

So I did the install of my new seats along with wiring them up so now I have power, I went from non power nothing special heated seats to full power heated Recaro's.

Rear seats took about 25-30 minutes to swap out:

    New seats in:

    Moving onto the front seats,

Testing the fitment and brainstorming on what to do:

Pulling fuse box and everything to wire up my power and put my fuse in:

I am sorry I have no pictures of the actual wiring itself, I forgot to snap a couple photos.

Passanger side all done and hooked up:

A finished project, all plugged in and working and I nice trip to B-Dubs to enjoy:

    I love them already

Looks good. I've never sat in the S4 recaros, only the euro RS4 buckets. I'm sure they are leaps and bounds better than the standard seats. My mom has an e60 with M5 seats in it and oh my gosh they are like recliners. So many adjustments. The hip and side bolster adjustment is my favorite. They squeeze you in so tight. How difficult was it to wire the passenger side?

I always notice that the recaro rear seats dent really easy. Almost every swap I see they have dents. Do they go away with time?

your lucky I heard the buckets are even more amazing, the Recaros are for sure leaps and bounds better then what I had, I love the M5 seats, I am afraid of touching a button though ( not know what it controls haha) The dents are gone as well I think its due to the different leather they use, its softer there for maybe dents more, I will take out the good camera and get some shots of them when I wash the car. Wiring the passanger side and will my driver side as well went really smoothly, Audi has all the connection under the seat already its just that the power connection doesnt have one wire to it which is what you have to put in which it pretty simple to wire your way through under the center counsel and to the fuses where it needs to go.

Ah, I see. I didn't know the non-power seat equipped cars are already have the connections under them, pretty sweet. The leather they use seems to wear quicker, as I see more wrinkles on them compared to the standard seats from the pictures I've seen. I think the sides of the standard seats are leatherette, so that's probably why. But if you maintain the Recaros with a conditioner I'm sure they will be fine. The ones you got look brand new, you lucked out. The buckets are great for what they are. You obviously sacrifice a little comfort for the added support

Yeah I was happy to see that the seat power is the red connecter which has 4 wires and then under the original seat when you look at the plug there are only 3 which makes you figure out thats power so its pretty simple. Feeling the s4 seats and then the stock ones again there is a big difference in "softness of the leather so thats where the wear comes in, I was lucky to get these for 750, the guy had an s4 that he swapped black ones in and wanted to get rid of these, we fought on price a little but as you can see I won haha I see that you have the symphony 2+ head unit in your car, how is the quality of it sound wise. I have been hearing mixed things and I was thinking about maybe picking one but seeing how here in MN they go for around $130 at some salvage yards

that's a steal! you got an awesome deal.

the symph 2+ sounds the same to me. I never noticed any difference with the Bose sound. The only thing that changed is I get horrid radio reception in some areas because it requires a different antenna that is like $250. The majority of the time I plug my iPhone into my AUX cable, so I have no reason to spend that much money for radio reception. I got the s2+ mainly for aesthetic purposes. Everything ties together now [silver bezels on the HU, the silver trimmed miscellaneous buttons above it, the silver steering wheel trim, door handles, etc]

They have a 144X20mm wristpin and a webbed block that is stronger than a typical 06A. However the 20mm wrist pin means nothing once you stroke it with aftermarket pistons, and plenty of people have made tons of power on the non-webbed 06A blocks with zero problems so its not really an issue. The 225 has a K04 and supporting OE equipment, but none of that would work on a longitudinal engine anyway. Also, it is a transverse 06A block which means it runs a non-electronic thermostat. The block will have to be modified to run the B6 electric thermostat. All of the B6 accessories and mounts will bolt to it just fine other than that. The head is exactly the same, except it will have a non-VVT tensioner in it you will have to swap out.

All in all, there is absolutely no reason to build a TT225 engine for a B6 A4. Especially if you are stroking it.

None of that "bigger inside" would matter once you stroked it.

Remember your electric thermostat will not simply bolt onto the 06A transverse blocks out of the GTI/Jetta/TT and will have to be machined to accept it. There is nothing desired off the TT225 or regular 1.8T blocks if you are building one.... especially with a stroker. You would be better off building what you have in the car or picking up a spare longitudinal block.

You would be better off building what you have in the car or picking up a spare longitudinal block.
I have been reading this build and going by what he has all done, I will be doing it to a new motor so that I can keep the car up and drivable while I source the parts

That is correct, the AMU and BEA are not however.

Dougs build, yes. However, you do not need to do a TT225 engine to follow a similar build. As Doug wrote in the first paragraph he was going with that engine because he was planning on using the T225 forged pistons 9.0:1 and 144X20 connecting rods (vs. 06A 144X19 usually). However, as you plan all of that is thrown out the window when you stroke it anyway since you will be doing aftermarket stroker pistons, rods, and crank.

Are you doing head work as well?

Sweet, you can buy 06A blocks for cheap everywhere. Then build it, swap your accessories head onto it and be good to go.

yep.. if you're patient, and a cheap bastard, like I am then you can piece together a build for dirt cheap. I bought a parts car for $1k which has cost me nothing in the end because I've sold enough parts to make up for it. Finding a good parts car is a good way to get your block and head for free, provided you're patient enough to do a part out.

Thats the plan, hopefully the search goes well and I will make people proud and have the build part start in my build/journal thread. I know some of you have been waiting for it to start.

Sounds like there's not too much benefit with the tt over a4 engine if you're bore/stroking it other than having a spare engine to work on. Good to know that's an option too. I'll be taking the daihashi route with either a 2.7 or 1.8.

    Good luck to you man!

Id like to start this update out by saying a huge thank you to Brandon and the whole crew at LaMettry's. They did a wonderful job with my car. They went above and beyond and I love it. Brandon kept me in the loop with texts as well as some pictures along the way. Sucks that the weather isnt that great so I didnt get to many photos but I made sure to get some of where the rust was before.

Right when I first saw it and picked it up. i-Phone pictures:

Some photos when I got it home

    big rust spot number 1:

    big rust spot number 2:

Next on the list is to do my center lower grille.
