DD - what are you putting down for Torque? How is your launch low-end vs. high end?
    Agreed here!

It's about 300 or more wtq. The launch on low end has a small delay but the turbo is spooling the whole time and kicks in at around 2500-3000 rpm and it's producing power throughout. If I launch and keep flooring it from launch the only delay is the beginning. The thing is our cars redline is 7k so it goes all the way through, when you change gears you're about 4k rpm and the power band just keeps going and going. I need to make some videos for you guys. I put some up on my YouTube channel about a year ago of the development but I had to take them down as it was only a teaser ;)

Woa. The cheapest set up is $4,665.00, without shipping or installation. If you add in the other stuff (Air Intake, Diverter Valve Kit, FMIC Pressure Pipe Kit, Heat Suppression) it's $5,235.00 for the 2863R. I dunno man... adding a beefier FMIC as well, and you are looking at ~7k. I would rather have spent that money and gotten an S4 will a tune and pulley and intake. K04 may not be as powerful or modern, but it's only $3k.

    you think so? (obviously)

reliability is also important, so if the red label can get a few more horses than k04 for the same or lower price point, then im down.

I think the "red label" kit they are finishing up is a decent amount cheaper...they said the on on the website now is the "black label" kit, or the more expensive one. I'm hoping for around $4k for everything, but we will see of course.

With apr k04 you still need full turbo back exhaust plus install so your looking at about 6k... I paid a lot more than what the price is now. And s4 is 57k, a4 is 41k, so 16k difference, but if you put in let's say 8k you're beating s4's so yeah...there's you're savings,.... Nothing better then having a b8 s4 pull up after racing him and he asks " what did you do to you're s4?" and I reply " it's a 2.0 a4" the look on their faces is...priceless

Will this be using a cast log-style manifold? I prefer this for the extra low end and reliability.

This piques my interest. k04 is not cutting it.

I dunno man, my A4 avant moderately equipped was 42k (MSRP 46k) before TTR. When I was looking at S4s, with the options I wanted it was MSRP at 52k. Assuming I could get it down to 50K, that is a very small difference. And remember, getting a simple Stage 1 or 2 for the A4/S4 is not too bad in terms of reliability, but once you get bigger turbos/SC, things are bound to wear MUCH faster. I wish I had the money to just get the S4. I wouldn't even mind keeping it stock. But even the A4 was a stretch (was only looking to pay around 35k when I was buying a car).

I feel like not enough people are questioning reliability when looking into these upgraded turbo setups. I would love to get a bigger turbo but i just can't risk anything serious happening to my daily. K04 seems like a safe route for some extra power. Maybe not the best bang for the buck tho. A little more power would obviously be more pleasing but reliability has to be taken into consideration unless this is ur weekend car. In which case I would have picked something much sportier

I agree. I don't want to spend 8K in mods to have to spend another 3k+ on repairs. At the end of the day, I want to enjoy my car. Do I mind dropping the dough for mods and fun? Only if it is reasonable. But I do not want my car to turn into a giant money sinkhole (I have quite a few friends with N54 335s who had this issue, and the costs of replacing turbos and such was higher than the thousands they already spent on mods). If I had more money, I would not mind, but then again I would be driving an S4 instead.

Remember this isn't some hoopty $20k car. It's NOT a Subaru it's NOT made for speed. But if you want to be able to say you have a fast LUXURY sedan then it's worth it. I'd bet anything that if you got to feel the power of the kit, as in test drive or even being passenger you would jump on this and buy it, IMHO .

If you want to do total cost side by side for a k04 vs the gtx kit it wouldn't be that much more. So it's 240-250awhp(high estimate) or 300-310 awhp (no water meth, low boost) ..

Ryan if you want, I will most likely be going to englishtown this week or next( having an issue with drivers license) and you can check out the car. Or if you want come to staten island

I've been running the kit for over a year on stock internals, the only thing I had to replace was motor mounts, but that's because I kept launching the car and my coil overs are adjusted too low and I had to replace throttle body because of my water meth kit. In the end, the turbo kit didn't contribute at all, other than motor mo ts but if you search forumns stock motor mounts have broken on stock or stage 1 b8 a4's.

I don't understand the other reliability concern? It was made to be a dd. I'm only boosted to 22 psi. Granted I don't have a gtx but an efr but it's very similar in concept and in terms of airflow and spooling characteristics .

DD - Thanks for all the updates. Can't wait to see some videos. I'm completely tracking with what you're saying and I agree that with the right turbo, manifold, low boost, etc. you can be faster and equally reliable.

Out of curiousity, what motor mounts did you go with? What was the overall improvement?

ah, so it will come w/ an equal length? hm, i wonder what the bolt pattern on the gtx series turbos are. maybe i can use the KMD manifold. daily w/ an EL manifold isn't the greatest. you get great mid range to high power, but low end suffers a bit. also, they are prone to cracking, depending on design. couple of my friends and brother who have upgraded to EL manifolds on their cars always complain about how they lost so much torque. couple of them cracked their manifolds and ended up going back to stock also. i want to try to avoid the same mistakes. they do look really pretty, though

GTX comes in the standard T25 flange and T3 flange.

If a tubular manifold is designed correctly, you do not lose any power anywhere. When people see loss in spool with a tubular manifold, it is because the runners are too large. You want runners that are as close as possible to the same ID of the port on the head. You do not want exhaust expansion until the turbine housing. This is exactly what we did. We put countless hours of R&D into all of our products, especially the exhaust manifolds. Our manifolds are made specifically for the engine that they going to be ran on. We do not have a "cookie cutter" style manifold design, and then just swap flanges to make them bolt up to other engines.

Picture is not showing up. Looking forward to seeing it. I saw some new motor mounts from BFI for another model that looked incredible. I'm hoping they come up with something for the B8 as well.

Wait - now I can see it in Tofu's repost. Pretty sick.

Thanks, that picture was taken a long time ago and I have since wrapped it (I'm am idiot who touched the manifold after car was off thinking it wasn't hot and basically almost burned my fingerprint off my index finger)..(2x lol)

Only option is stock replacements :( unlike b6/b7 with at least 3 for each. But it was the top mounts that broke, not dog bone

Well from the welds on that you can see the quality. Also I u derstand what you're saying about low end it's only till about 2500rpm or less really. Overall it's working better than regular log style manifold. It also has lifetime warranty against cracking , warping etc. The quality of parts on my car is second to none. That manifold was redesigned multiple times to get the proper air flow and to make sure everything was equal. How much did you spend in total on your k04?

that's awesome news on lifetime warranty against cracking on the manifold. i know a majority of issues comes from the big, heavy turbos hanging off the manifold at an awkward angle. over time (if there isn't a support rod for the manifold), it causes it to crack

i see, that's good to hear. is the unitronic tune custom for each car? or is it an off the shelf pre-made map? will there be the ability to switch between a 91 or 93 octane tune?

The unitronic file is a Off The Shelf tune. There really isn't any adjustments.

Maestro is what you're looking for if you want a custom tune.

God damn it... now I have to wait for you guys to release the kit before I go stage 2 just in case I want to go straight to the GTX upgrade (as long as it is cheap- I would say $3500 including install is reasonable). Although I wish you guys didn't use Unitronic, I have not heard good things about them.

We offer Unitronic, but we don't exclusively use them.

We offer tunes from practically every vendor in the VAG scene.

We have been using Maestro mostly as of late, since we can dial in the tune ourselves on our dyno, to optimize the tune.

Dan, so if I am understanding you correctly, Maestro will be out/available for the B8s in time for you releasing your Red Label Kit? Thanks!

I hate giving estimates of when we think things will be finished, because then they are guaranteed not to be finished by then lol.

RAI seems to one of the more active companies in here. Waiting on the red label kit before I consider any further performance mods. Keep us updated :)

Hvorfor skriver du på russisk og ikke på engelsg da? Det er jævlig irriterende å ikke skjønne hva du skriver, eller?
