    Water on subwoofer amp

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I went through a carwash where the water pressure and air was turned up way too high. I had water on my footwell, water came through my headliner, and water leaked onto my amp. 5 minutes after I left the car wash, the sub started blasting interference at full power. Had to disconnect the amp, and now no stereo :(. Think it'll be ok after it dries?

Where would the water on the sub amp have come from? Am gonna pull the transmission computer out and make sure it is dry (my worst nightmare :( ).

Hmmm. Same thing happened to me and I left the sub disconnected for 3 weeks and now it's working but occasionally there is interference thru the speakers. I'm hoping the Texas heat will help me lol.

    Hi All,
Is the "blasting of interference at full power" definitely a symptom of water on the amp? I had this a few days ago but my car hasn't ever been jet washed. How do I get to the amp on a cab?
    Thanks

Normally, I would agree with that. But, I've NEVER had water leak before, and I could hear the seals in the sunroof unseal when I went through the dryer. I can completely understand that the drains couldn't keep up with it.

My car started doing this after a severe thunder storm but my sun roof was closed. How can that be?

mine does it when it rains, but i have no ac, and my windows are ALWAYS open. but my trunk gets water in it too. it gets wet back in the corner, where the sub was, all my connections are moved though with my stereo.

when my a6 gets gutted and caged i'll have to take a look at its sunroof drains.

sunroof drains. the drains are there because it is inevitable for water to seep passed the sunroof glass seal. this is a common issue. the drain hoses themselves can come off of the sunroof track causing the leak. to check this you can remove the a pillar trims and c/d pillar trims. the hoses just slide on. if attached lightly blow through with compressed air. also the cowl drains are known to clog. located under battery. factory installed rubber grommet should be removed for better flow.
