    OEM size lightweight rotors

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know a lightweight rotor company which has made something for B8 S4 ?

I know that Girodisc has already built lightweight rotors for R8, RS4, Porsche, Lambo, EVO, Impreza etc... but not for B8 S4 yet

If I remember correctly though, the ones you have coming from JHM are for the RS5 brake setup right?

Im wondering are they making them four our stock brake size and how much will zinc coating add?

they have standard sized rotors coming front and rear, i was getting the rs5 fronts and s4 rears but am now selling the rs5 fronts. i have a preproduction set coming in the next week with black anodized hats to match the front stoptechs, i forget what the zinc coating costs but i know it wasnt much and a worthwhile option for us in the northeast with all the road salt

I don't know, but if they plan to do ligthweight rotor for B8 S4, I guess it would be in price range of Mustang GT model.
For exemple for Mustang GT model is :
    - 2 piece
    - The central “hat” : 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum
    - disc is made from cast iron, constructed in the USA
    - weigth saving : 3,5 lbs per corner
    - Pricing : 700$ front

You can go on web site : http://www.girodisc.com/Girodisc-Fro...GT_p_6298.html

I mailed Girodisc, here is the reply:

We’re thinking about it actually. We’ve had a few people just recently ask us about making some. I’ve been in talks with Jeff over at USP as well as he really wants us to build some. We’d like to have a pre-order of around 10 sets to do a production run on these. I would say either start a thread on the forums or give Jeff a call over at USP and bug him about starting a group buy on there. I’m an Audi guy myself, currently own two B5 S4s and I would love to build some of these rotors for you guys. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

So, there can be one more option, if we make a group buy :)

Can anyone comment on the quality of the JHM Lightweight rotors?

That's coming. This more info from JHM :

'' May 21st : Here is a little bit more info on the rotors for your B8 S4. Right now we are anticipating the price of the fronts to be close to the B6/B7 S4 rotors, somewhere around the $650.00 mark and sized at 345mm, the same as stock. The rear rotors are going to be sized at 330mm also the same as stock, and will be priced similar to the RS4 Rear rotors. The price of the RS4 rear rotors is $560.00 so look for the rear B8 S4 rotors to be price around there. We are hoping to have the rotors finished and for sale within the next 1-2 months so please keep your eyes and ears out for details. I'm getting some OEM size replacement slotted rotors from Centric Parts, the same company that owns Powerslot and Stoptech. Getting slotted rotors made from the same alloy as they use on the Stoptech big brake kits and not the cheapo rotor blanks. Might take me a month to 6 weeks to get them. Note, these will be 1 piece rotors, not 2 piece.... Stay tuned...

I've just ordered a set of cross drilled rotors made by Stoptech, from modbargains.com.

They'll be a 1 piece rotor. So, they won't be as light as a 2 piece obviously. However, they won't be priced as high as a 2 piece rotor either...

I would expect a normal OEM replacement to cost up to $280 for the rears. $758 is not bad at all for a nice light two piece set, or $380 per rotor. Beats paying $3000-4000 for a rear BBK that you don't need.

3-4 pounds per corner for the rotor is dead on. You save another 4-5 pounds for the mono block caliper, if you're doing a full brake kit.
