And enough with telling people not to mod, guys. The cost/benefit of modding a b6 is very evident. Where else can you get a family friendly, awd luxury sedan that is easily capable of +300awhp for less than $15k? It's a short list.
Who is telling people to not mod their cars? I'm informing people and advising them reconsider taking things to the more extreme side of the scale as I did.

300awhp can be done reliably and if I stopped there this discussion would most likely not exist, it is when I chased after 400awhp with the goal of using the smallest fuel injector possible that things got crazy. Then I had others around me go after 450 and 500awhp which for a daily driver is nuts.

Taking the car to a BAT level accelerates the time items a stock car would take much, much longer to break.

When you are done building yours I would like to check it out and see your notes.

You're right. I just hate seeing threads where people chime in and state the b6 is a pig and will never be "fast". Fast is a matter of perspective. A 300-400awhp dd sedan is actually quite respectable considering the price and market offerings.

It's a pig, and when comparing to other vehicles of equivelant horsepower... it's not fast. It doesn't mean we enjoy our cars any less. Heavy car + AWD drivetrain loss = undisputable fact when compared against a lighter sedan w/ FWD or RWD counterpart. Don't be butt hurt.

Hell, look at a DSM.. it's a car that's near equivelant in weight, drivetrain, displacement and number of cylinders. Phil Beers is running 11.4 in the 1/4 mile on a stock 14b turbo with no other power adders, stock motor/head/internals etc etc. Another DSM is running in the 10's with a stock 14b. It takes gobs of power and upgrades for a 1.8t to do the same. Fact.

theres no replacement for displacement... an old hot rodders saying. Is it because you tryed to do it all with four little cylinders? i mean 1800cc is small even for four cylinders. I was into toyotas when i was younger and there were companys that could get big numbers out of the 22r's but it was obviously known that as power goes up lifespan goes down... Its the huge racing teams that can put out 500hp and run anti-lag and destroy everything but THEY can replace every part after the race. You wont stop modding, you cant. You enjoy making it yours, a part of you. I think the reality is you realized that maybe it went too far and too much of anything is never good. I hope youll enjoy your next project just as much but as a man thats a little older and wiser. learn from it and move on.

I know there is more than that. It has to be easier than going 1.8t tip stock management, to 6sp VR6 standalone and then to 6sp 2.7tt stock ecu. Even that wasn't that hard.

Even if you had to hold onto the motor for a hot minute for it to sale. 1.8t are getting pretty cheap these days, selling the BAT would have covered the cost of the longblock. Regardless, I am sure you did what was right for you and hopefully you come out better on the other side.

If I was going to get a new 2 door car and I had the money would I go Audi, BMW, Porche??? And call it a day???

Heck no... The 278hp Hyundai Genesis 2.0T coupe with track pkg will fit my bill nicely. instead of having the factory restrict me from the begining I am starting off with good power. A few mods and thats it: 350hp and I'm totally satisfied unless I want to kill someone.

The main problem is that it is sooo much more expensive to mod euro-cars hence all of us are shade-tree DIY mechanics.

It is very easy. So easy that I wish I figured it out years ago.

If you say it is that easy Doug then I am going to hold off on looking up the information as it may distract me from what I am building now.

    It will.

The fact that I need a new clutch is making me think about selling the entire engine.

Wear out clutch. Swap engine. Makes perfect sense. Right?

    Makes sense to me

That's why I am going to avoid that thread for now. I have already blown my budget for this e30 build of mine and have to get it back on track.

Yeah. Audi could've easily used the 2.7T rather than the 3.0 as the top B6 A4 motor. With 250hp it would've settled nicely between the 170hp 1.8T and 340hp 4.2 in the upcomming B6 S4.

They also could have given a4's a 1.8t w/ a factory 225hp like the tt instead of 170 which is lower than gti's and jetta's

    That would have settled VERY nicely... 1.8t: 225hp, 2.7t: 250, and 4.2: 340
