Nope. We got screwed. For the b6 and b7 you have to replace the whole housing. It's possible you could Dremel it open and replace the tstat itself and then jb weld it shut but I would never trust that.

OP 99% sure your issue is the thermostat. Replace that and it'll be resolved. I would tke a look at the coolant temp sensors though and if they look old and cruddy I would replace them too.
