    Hey guys,

I was driving on the highway last night and all of a sudden out of nowhere my engine decided to start bugging out. It was comparable to the sound of a snlowblower/powerwasher when you have it set on choke to start it up. As I would give it gas it would react slightly but it almost felt like there were just pockets of power. It was like the RPMs were bouncing up and down but I didn’t see much movement on the guage.

I threw the car into neutral to see if the engine would catch itself and it did for a while. I decided towards the end of the drive to step on the gas and a little after I did that the same thing started to happen. I have been noticing some hiccups once and a while but nothing crazy. I wasn’t sure if I had sludge blocking the fuel pump since I tend to run my tank a little low.

The car is an 2008 Audi A4, Tip, 50k Miles.

I would also vote coil packs. Get them replaced for free at the dealer

X2 on it probably being coils. I'd do that first. Are you getting the MIL or EPC light coming on?

the dealer should take care of the coilpacks because there is a recall on them, but youre right around the mileage where the OEM spark plugs need to be replaced as well.

youre wrong. a blinking CEL means a SEVERE misfire, and you should not drive the car. you can have a misfire without any CEL at all. It has happened to me on multiple occasions.

I just ran outside to start the car and listen for something. Still no lights on the dash and I gave it a little rev and as soon as I took my foot off the gas it sounded like my engine was on the verge of giving out.

Nope....Something as simple as a coil pack dying out will cause a blinking CEL....Happened to me, it only blinked and started to misfire when I really gassed it but was fine otherwise. Blinking = misfire, has nothing to do with the severity.

Try running the car and if its stumbling pull out the dip stick if you hear a rush of air the pcv is broken. This is how i discovered my pcv had crapped out. May not work may have been sheer luck but im still gonna post the idea. My car was sounding like it was going to stall all the time and it would not get on the throttle but it was still driveable. NO codes were thrown. Just a thought.

Check coil packs, PCV valve, change plugs, check cam follower, check fuel pressure, consider changing fuel filter

Is there a certain OEM PCV vesrion that works best with our chip? I am looking for some part numbers. I will probably get a catch can in a few months.

There's no point in replacing the Pcv and then buying a catch can. Your adding unnecessary costs. That being said I have one of the revised editions of you'd like it.
