Did anybody other than Kristof do the 8.0 to 5.7 ABS swap??? I started mine today, but I realized there is no VSS wire coming from pin 33 of the 5.7 module I got for the swap. I was wondering if others had experienced this. I can easily install a terminal there, but I am confused why it is missing.

Has anyone successfully installed an AUTO 2.7T into Manual 6-Speed car yet ? I'm having difficulty locating Manual Trans engines for a good price, but I'm locating complete Automatic cars for around $1300.00
    - Yes I researched and I didn't locate a successful swap
    - I did however learn (or was led to learn that the cranks on both AT and MT cars are identical)
    - I also read that a Pilot bearing was needed
    - Then I read that the Pilot bearing was not needed and is actually built into the flywheel

the 2.7T auto crank and manual crank is the same part Sam. The auto uses a spacer on the crank that the flex plate is bolted to. The manual flywheel is pressed onto the crank where the auto spacer is. Its great in that you don't have to touch the engine.

engine crank sensor trigger is on the trans bellhousing triggering off the ring on the flywheel.

Pilot bearing is in the flywheel. another gem I like over the 1.8T stuff. I hated having to remove the pilot bearing from the 1.8T crank. removing and installing it on a flywheel is so much easier.

I can send you some pics tonight. My first engine was from an S4 MT and my latest engine that I'm currently using is from an A6 AT. My trans is a 6spd from a B6 S4. I'm using the 01E trans adapter/spacer plate and cobbled bellhousing bolts together out of my box of bolts.

I bought a whole 2.7 car with an auto but have done the swap yet, there is most certainly always a pilot bearing in a flywheel but as to if it built into the flywheel idk as this is my first 2.7 but if it is it would be the first one I've ever seen

Not to derail the questions being asked, but update.

Got the engine in to it's cradle.

    To do list:
    Fuel Return line
    Figure out ac lines
    Extend downpipes
Stare at current flow charts for many hours and cut and splice dozens of wires

The cranks are the same. But the auto cranks sometimes have a plug in the end of the crank. The pilot bearing does go in the flywheel, but there is a small stepped extension at the end of the input shaft that goes past the pilot bearing. Just put some heat on the back of the crank and give the crank a whack with a rubber mallet to get the plug to come out.

Sam. If you want my S4 2.7T I'll sell it to you really cheap. It needs a bore w/ new pistons and a valve job on the heads (broken valve). Perfect candidate for a solid high HP build.

Have you guys heard Ard design? How's their 3'' down pipe, compare with ebay 3'' down pipe?
    Here is their link

And, does anyone have a economy choice for the downpipe? looking for something is affordable for now...

Modified piggies will be cheapest. ARD used to make stuff but it looks like they're not in business anymore... $375 is dirt cheap but make sure that you'll actually get the product

XS Power = SSAC, as well. They're fine, just don't expect the stainless to stay stainless for too long. I'm blasting and coating mine with Cerakote to keep them from getting surface rust...

Cheap stainless shouldn't be wrapped, IMHO... risk of making a corrosion issue worse since it traps moisture in, when the car's not running.

I am using the 3.0 AC compressor from a B6. I think I used the wrong bracket, but I dont remember which one it was!!!! My AC compressor is not sticking out enough and it is chewing up the belt. Which bracket should I have used?

Hey man, hope you're still checking this thread, I just did a 2.7T swap from an 01' A6 into a 98 A4 2.8, and I need some help with the wiring part, I just realized that my plugs don't match up at all and I was hoping you could either give me some help with how to splice in new connectors to plug in behind the Ecu or even better would be if you could maybe make an adapter or something, this is the last part of my swap and I'm like down in the dumps trying to figure it out on my own, any help at all would be much appreciated!

If I get the B5 diagrams I may be able to do something, but you're going to have to swap to DBW at the very minimum, I would have never used an early 98 for this swap.

Hello everyone. So I got the 2.7t mounted in to my 2004 A4 and got into the wiring with the auto tiptronic trans. Everything seemed to be too good to be true, until it was time to hook power up and see what happened on the Vag-Com. That's when the thunder and lightning struck. Not good news for me. Being that the TCM is mounted right under the ECM in the cowl on the B6, the communication wires go from one, right into the other. On an Allroad, the TCM is mounted under the seat and the communication wires go from there to the speedo and then to the ECM. The shop that is working on the wiring told me that being that the Allroad TCM is mounted farther away, the speed or wave length of the communication that is sent is different and will not communicate with the 2.7t ECM. I'm in no means a wiring expert but seemed to make sence, just not what I wanted to hear. I'm told the only way to cure this issue is to swap a manual transmission. Seeing if anyone has any ideas or am I stuck swapping the trans also? A 6 speed would obviously be preferred, just not quite in the cards right now. Any ideas would be greatfully helpful. Thank you.

Thank you.
Sounds like a load of BS to me, I just don't think they feel like figuring out the wiring.

I thought it was weird also. They tell me that everything is fine until the plug the TCM in and all communication is lost. Unplug the TCM and everything comes back up.
