    If you remember last years meet up that I fell through on, you'll know why I didn't try to disappoint you again. I barely got my car together in time and I feel like I barely made it home alive this year. EDC can do that to a person.

    That said, I made some friends up there and they invited us up for some boating fun. If I make it up this summer, I will definitely reach out.

    Stage 1 remap with EGR off and DPF gutted, partly dechromed with blacked out RS honeycomb grille, standard 19" LeMans RS4 type wheels (deu to change), full led interior, upgraded Osram CBI bulbs, fog's power led's with heat sinks.

    I did some LED stuff too. Figured since I was changing the mirror caps, I might as well upgrade the puddle lights. Took a bayonet type bulb and removed the ends, cut the board and some of the plastic housing to fit. It was a dirty job, but it works and the it's a minor detail.

    (Second one turned out better since I got the first one too hot when taking it apart)

    I also did an Optima No Rinse wash and snapped a photo.

    Got my car back from being ceramic coated and wow. It's like a brand new car. Had a two step paint correction done plus the ceramic coating and wow what a shine and brilliance. Just check the pictures below. The last picture is actually a reflection of my garage ceiling on the hood. Thats how clear it is. If your in the San Fransisco Bay Area check out MAR Quality Protection as they did a remarkable job on my car.

    That's awesome. Do you know which one you used? I did my dad's A8L back a few years ago and it still shines like a mirror. It's amazing stuff. I want to use it on my car, but the paint needs a lot of correction before I want to lock that in.



    As far as my car, I left it at home today. It's also showing P0491 and P0492 codes for the Secondary Air Injection. I'm really hoping that it has to do with the actual pump and not the head ports. If I have to take this thing apart again, I might as well build the bottom end

    My detailer used SB3 Alpha coating. My paint was pretty bad so he had to do a two step correction.

    I was quoted around $900 for a standard one stage paint correction w/ a 4 year ceramic coating. It usually hovers around that area depending on who you go with. Some people charge as high as $1500 for those premier shops. But once you get to a car that has alot of swirls and the paint is not the greatest of condition (like mine was), stage 2 is needed where a compounding stage is done to remove those deep swirls and scratches. Very labor intensive so that step usually adds another 200-400 depending on the place. So all in all for a decently priced ceramic coating w/ two stage your looking at $1200+.

    3.0T? Ports are probably clogged. Under 120K miles or 10 years? You are still covered under warranty for that.

    I cleaned the intake ports.

    Those are the exhaust ports for the SAI he's referring to.

    It's something I just learned about or I would have done it at the same time.

    How was it done? I canít see how you can clean the ports yourself without having the high pressure water jet cleaner we use at the dealer, or taking off the manifolds are drilling out the individual ports.

    oops didnít see this. Doing it when cleaning intake valves doesnít really save you time, itís a different repair approach. The individual ports are accessible from behind the exhaust manifolds and the main ports are accessed from the front of the engine behind freeze plugs.

    Yeah, but I had the thing in service position and belts and front pipe were off. And the momentum of all that for a carport mechanic helps.

    Brakes have been squealing and now the brake lights are flashing and beeping at me. I had a pad set ready to go, but seems as I need rotors now too.

    Went on FCPEuro and ordered up some Zimmerman Sports to go along with the Akebonos that I have sitting in my storage. Bought some caliper paint as well. I should be doing this job next weekend. I'll start rebuilding the front calipers that I have this weekend in preparation. I have the kit for the rear, but I doubt that I will rebuild them.
