Alright ladies and gentlemen. This is my first post, so be gentle.

Car is scheduled to be delivered end of February and I have some questions.

First, is it better to drive the car 5,000 miles or so before doing mods?
    Second, 20x9 or 20x10?
Third, KW V1 or KW V2 or H&R Adjustable Coil Overs?
Fourth, S5 grill swap out with RS5 or do complete bumper and grill swap?

My ideal end result - a pitbull in a skirt for sure but want to maintain functionality, steering and a comfortable ride - this is my DD. Also, got great price on BBS CH-Rs from ModB but any other wheel suggestions? LOVE HRE P40SC but way out of my price range. Also, who would you recommend for best pricing on wheels and coil overs. The cheapest I've found on KW V2 coil overs is roughly $1649.

Hey there! So excited for you!!!!!!!!!

Here are my opinions on your questions:
First, is it better to drive the car 5,000 miles or so before doing mods? >> No need to wait.
Second, 20x9 or 20x10? >> I would prefer 20x10 because you will have more tire size options.
Third, KW V1 or KW V2 or H&R Adjustable Coil Overs? >> I would get V1s if this will be just meant for road driving (versus track), unless of course you want to fiddle around with suspension adjusments.
Fourth, S5 grill swap out with RS5 or do complete bumper and grill swap? >> I am pretty sure the OEM RS5 bumper is not a direct bolt on to the S5 unless you go for an aftermarket one like Rieger.
Wheels >> you know I am partial to BC Racing!

Here's a question about a suspension option I don't think has ever been considered or performed ... at least I haven't come across it. For those who are looking for a moderate drop - something possibly attainable by using the KW H.A.S. kit ...

Has anybody ever swapped the stock S5 springs with the stock RS5 springs? My thoughts are if the RS5 stock set-up allows for winter driving (with the appropriate wheel/tire combo), wouldn't/couldn't going to the RS5 springs on the S5 provide the means to run a set of 20's ... obtain a moderate drop ... and provide the ability to run a dedicated winter wheel/tire package without having to be concerned with being too low to safely run through moderate snow? There may be other RS5 suspension items that need to be taken into account, but since some are discovering they have to obtain (at an additional cost) the B8 Avant rear springs from KW to address and allow for proper height adjustments when using their H.A.S. kit, might not just going to the RS5 springs accomplish much the same thing - lacking only the ability to height adjust? The other reason for this consideration is that it still allows for safely using the ADS options.

    thoughts?

I have an RS5 and I am looking at either Bilstein PSS10's or KW V3's based on recommendations from various friends and shops I have talked to... any advice here would be appreciated! I have 20 x 10.5 BBS CH-R's on the car right now with 295/30 PSS's.

Do a search. There are MANY threads out there that discuss coilovers.

In a nutshell, members are have mixed results at best with KW coilovers (regardless of variant). Some love them, but there are many who don't (noisy, clunky, warranty issues, etc.). Bilstein seem to be universally respected, much like Ohlins, but that respect/performance comes at a premium price.

I myself went with H&R Street Performance coils. I did a lot of searching and contacted the companies themselves. H&R does warranty them for the RS5. At the point in time that I was looking to put them on, KW told me that they did not yet certify them for the RS5. That may have changed by now. I'm am absolutely pleased with the performance, ride, and lowering capability of my set.

Hope that helps and good luck.

    Springs: H&R OE Sport Springs

    Spacers: H&R 12mm DR Trak+

    Drop: ~1.0" (Front), ~0.9" (Rear)

Only slight rubbing at full compression, especially when loaded up. Ride is very similar to OEM springs.

pardon if this an obvious question but im a novice. if the tires are that close to the body, what happens when you hit a bump or a pothole or something? is there greater risk the tire hits the body?

It happens. We live with it. That term is called "rub". It doesnt really damage anything, just an unpleasant sound.

    oh ok.

    whats this mean exactly?:

Sport suspension calibration (-20 mm ride height)

specifically the part in ()s. and does everyone normally get rid of this anyway?

Could be by lowering it 20mm on coils as they are adjustable.

Yep, rubbing is not big deal. Rear not at all, as you are hitting the liner, unless you are really wide. Up front, if you rub, you are likely hitting a fender clip. You can feel/view it easily. Most of us removed that piece, as it is not needed. If you care hitting the actual fender, you can scuff up the finish. I have hit my fender 100's of times, and all good. Another option is "rolling" the fender to provide more room for flex.

… Means the sport suspension features a ride height that is 20mm (~3/4") lower than the standard oem suspension.

you guys expert racers or some sh*t? im a bit confused. are you guys making all these mods right away the majority or a few experts that know what you'all are doing. like for instance H&R OE and lowering more than -20mm is that what EVERYONE does or only a couple of you guys that are experts? whats the point of german engineering and state of the art suspension if the stock OE is bad and must be replaced asap?

Stock suspension is hardly state of the art. It's good and reliable and serves the intended purpose of the car which is for most people daily driving with some spirited runs every now and then. It's also setup in a way to provide comfort and a lot of clearance so as to never rub on big dips, get lip spoiler scrapes on dips and those cement bump stops in parking lots, etc. They're designed to be very practical. Most of us (car enthusiasts on forums) prefer the look of a lowered car removing the gap (these Audis have a lot of it!) and upgrading to stiffer suspension which improves handling. Some of us track our cars occasionally and the stock suspension doesn't cut it in that environment. You don't have to be an expert professional racer to want to further improve what is already a great product.

Your setup is what I am looking for! Just put a set of Vossen CV5 20x10.5 with a set of Michelin pilot sport AS plus 285/30/20. My question to you is, does your Audi have the ADS system? How did the ride change with the H&R OE Springs? I'm really looking at this option....any info would be great!
